Seems like alot of people saying Thundercrack doesn't work because people don't know it. I, for one can't wait to here it. I think it is a great song that is alot of fun! The band should have fun with it and the crowd should get off on it. People will never know it if they never play it. And, I don't want to just hear hits. I like new songs. I like old songs that you never hear. If anything the band needs to ham it up and get the crowd into it.
BTW, I was working yesterday and heard a cover version of Thundercrack on the radio. Anybody know who does this?

I've only seen it performed once and I was/am one of the doubters, but here's why -- not because he is performing it, which is cool, but when during the show, second song of the encores. As I said on another thread, that's a time for whipping the crowd to a frenzy, not playing a long and obscure song from the 70s. Rotate it in the 'epic' slot during the main set -- sure. That would work better, methinks.

Agreed. I mean, people want to get riled up and poll 95% of the people attending and they'd rather hear Thunder Road, Rosie, Hungry Heart, 10th Avenue, Glory Days, etc.

Thundercrack is one of my favorites from Bruce. I loved hearing it live, although for the next show I'm at, I'd rather get a Thunder Road, Rosie, or any of the others Trey mentioned. Seemed like 95% of the people around me had no clue what they were hearing.

I mean if Ramrod can get the crowd going, Thundercrack is the same type of Jam song but a lot better. In all honesty, the set list problems are lot more endemic then Thundercrack, it is the exact same set up for every set list (like every tour). I mean, you are going to see 18 to 19 of the same songs every night. The question becomes what are the few suprises each night. Tonight, you got Be True, Saint In The City, and Kitty's Back( instead of Thundercrack-not really a song that will get the crowd wild either). Be True is a B minus level song where Kitty is an A level song, Saint is a B+ song. So this show was a B show. I think Thunder Road and Spirit on night two of Chicago was a lot better then Saint and Kitty. That is my opinion.
He needs to do it like the Reuninon Tour and the Stadium tour side of the Rising Tour where a lot more of the set list changed night to night, and you only had between 10-12 staples.

Compared to the Police and Van Halen, Bruce is changing the setlist tremendously ;)

TC is my fav. of all his songs! I've been a fan since 1973 and for it to come around and be featured in the show again is a dream come true. Please listen to Tracks and the "73 boots!

Thundercrack and Seaside bar song were awesome when played at the Christmas Shows. About 80% of the 3000 in the crowd knew the songs and both songs are great when the crowd is into it. They lose alot when played and only about 20% out of 15,000 know it. If Bruce wants to put the crowd in a frenzy and make the Englishman happy too, start the encores with Incident right into Rosie.....that will please old and new and blow the roof off the place. Please ditch Girls.....you sold enough already.

I sort of have to agree with scoot. To a point.
Theres nothing like Thundercrack and Seaside Bar played in AP on the boardwalk. I consider myself lucky enough to have heard them there like many other LDers.
None of us really knows why hes still doing Thundercrack in that slot. But this I know. I dont care. I love the song. All its missing is him and the band spinning round and round and round and round etc.The way I see it is he could play anything from SSB in its place and make me  ie: John Henry or the turtle tune ;)
It`s Bruce and the viagra taking band :music:
I'm happy as a clam :sunny:

I agree with BruceNut. There was nothing like hearing Seaside BarSOng and Thundercrack on those cold December Nights in AP.
After seeing the Police at the Garden Friday Night, I did now realize how lucky I am to be a die hard Bruce fan. The Police just flat out s-cked shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Now that I know that I am lucky to be a Bruce fan, tell him to mix up the effing set list more

Lots in the pot to mix it up, as we've seen from warm orphan soundchecks and cold audibles (e.g. Thunder Road and Ramrod), and so much to come.
The tour canvas is bigger than one show, or pairs; Bruce is painting this masterpiece masterfully, evolving the show gracefully, yet keeping its character intact. An old new Master...
It's just humourous seeing certain folks critiquing Bruce's choices for shows they are not at. It's one thing to have a wish list and another thing to affect pretense. It's in the moment, and it's working, cost-to-coast...

I don't think Bruce is painting a canvass. Bruce has a formula that he plays usually in past tours 60-70% staples for the casual fan and the rest rarer songs for us nut jobs. My only complaint about the this tour is that the number that is not changing from night to night is now around 85% for staples. Only three songs a night are changing.
That is a problem.

Maybe if I have attended more shows this tour I would see things differently. I have been to five. 3 were warmups. And I dont feel anything is even close to being a problem.
For me its all gravy.
Its Bruce.
With his real band.
Life is very good.
I love reading everyones reviews.
Thank you for taking the time to write them ;)

Hey BruceNut,
I agree that Bruce is with his band and that is a great thing. I was for D and D, but totally against SSB. With that said, it is just a little disappointing when he is back with E Street, that the play the same stuff every night and that our thrill is from maybe one or two songs. I just wish that I could get the great anticipation for every song that he played.
And, I don't have problem with the new stuff. It is the Lonesome Day's and The Rising's that have become staples in the set that bother me. I mean why do those songs have to be a staple, why can't he rotate other songs in those slots. IMHO if he would rotate other songs in those slots, with the other three songs a night the set list could become better and give us fans who see him more regularly a little more. Trust me, I am just happy he is back, but this is a board to discuss our feelings, which not only includes deserved praise but also things that we would like to see changed.
I mean this is by far the worst tour with the band. To be sure, we would all like longer set lists and concerts, but the real problem is the songs tha he is singing with our favorite band. If he played and hour and half concert but we got great songs I could care less. Bruce has better songs then he is playing.
