Aloha

I was wondering, is there anyone out there who might be ble to steer me in the right direction.

For thos of you that don't know, I am attending college this full time at night this semester, so I can get my degree(22 credits shy).

Well, I am taking a speech class, and for the final speech, you have to do an informational speech on a famous person, and I chose Springsteen.

Well, I have to choose 3 topics to discuss, and I am going towards musicianship or lyricist, politics/charity work, and his legacy.

I am looking for some informative sites, that can help steer me in the right direction.

many thanks

Billy, I can't help you except to say how proud I am to see you working toward finishing your degree. IMO, it is the greatest personal sense of accomplishment you will ever experience.

I managed to put off taking speech in college for four years. It was the last class I took - at night during the summer. I'll look around for some sites. Bruce's legacy would be an interesting topic - I think politics/charity would be the toughest.

Billy ....here's another interesting read on Bruce's ability from a less generous point of view which I'd include. Perspecive view points that we have vary from person to person.

Here are some articles on Bruce's legacy - he is currently featured on itunes.com which includes a link to musicians he has influenced:

I know for a fact that he has done work for Amnesty International. I'll try to find a couple things on it. Also, the latest two issues of Rolling Stone magazine pretty much summarize his political views. The articles may be online.

In 2004, Springsteen announced that he and the E Street Band would participate in a politically motivated "Vote for Change" tour, in conjunction with John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, the Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bright Eyes, Dave Matthews Band, Jackson Browne and other musicians. All concerts were to be held in swing states, to benefit MoveOn.org and to encourage people to vote against George W. Bush. A finale was held in Washington, D.C., bringing many of the artists together. Several days later, Springsteen held one more such concert in New Jersey, when polls showed that state surprisingly close. While in past years Springsteen had played benefits for causes in which he believed – against nuclear energy, for Vietnam veterans, Amnesty International and the Christic Institute – he had always refrained from explicitly endorsing candidates for political office (indeed he had rejected the efforts of Walter Mondale to attract an endorsement during the 1984 Reagan "Born in the U.S.A." flap).

Wikipedia has some pretty good stuff on his politics and work in general. Sources are all there to check the facts. Hope that helps.

Consider comparing and contrasting...here's an example:
