why do the crowds in europe go so nuts compared to the people in the states?.. it makes us here seem lame.. I mean when Im at a show i go nuts maybe even more crazy than the europeans, I wish the fans here were like that. It just looks like the overall atmosphere is 100 times more intense over there and I dont understand it.

I've been there and it's only 90 times more intense. Pure joy is the only way to describe the crowds reaction to the music. I think it is because they are 100% focused on that rather than their cell phones, seatmates, beer runs etc. I thought it was very predictable that the Europeans would go nuts over the SSB tour because of the type of music being played.

There's lots of reasons Europe goes nuts. Lots of it is cultural. I was at a state fair in rural China with 5,000 locals watching a music act, and when it ended, not one person applauded, not one. 5,000 people standing in total silence waiting for the next song to begin......It was eerie, but that's the way it is in their culture. Europe is on the other end of the scale and goes wild in unison. Remember, these folks also riot at soccer games, so their passion is displayed in different ways. Better? Depends on if you want to see arms in the air blocking your view for 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The debate usually gets parochial, "My crowd is better than your crowd." I've been lucky enough to see Bruce in Dublin, Paris, London, Italy, and Australia.........and Boston, Philly, and tons of US cities. All have their pluses. I'll take a great Boston or Philly crowd any day. It's the perfect combination of crowd enthusiasm with the ability to actually see and enjoy the show. I have no problem actually hearing Bruce sing the song versus 20,000 people hearing only themselves. Yep, it's also fun to be in the big party in Italy with everyone going wild singing and being part of the show. One better than the other? Not really as all it takes, in either setting, is one moron sitting next to you to spoil your own personal show. My motto, forget about what everyone else is doing and enjoy the show wherever you are.

One great element of Europe crowds is they don't throw away their aging rockers and just look for the newest greatest thing. Many do back here. The excitement of seeing a "foreign" American rock star is something we can't replicate over here since most of the great English speaking rock acts are British or Yanks, just like us.

Just some ramblings from a guy that has rambled to see Bruce,
