IF IT SHOULD BE THAT I GROW WEAK

AND PAIN SHOULD KEEP ME FROM MY SLEEP,

THEN YOU MUST DO WHAT MUST BE DONE

FOR THIS LAST BATTLE CANNOT BE WON.

YOU WILL BE SAD I UNDERSTAND,

DON’T LET GRIEF THEN STAY YOUR HAND.

FOR THIS DAY MORE THAN ALL THE REST,

YOUR LOVE FOR ME MUST STAND THE TEST.

WE’VE HAD SO MANY HAPPY YEARS,

WHAT IS TO COME CAN HOLD NO FEARS,

YOU’D NOT WANT ME TO SUFFER SO,

THE TIME HAS COME TO LET ME GO.

TAKE ME WHERE MY NEED THEY’LL TEND,

AND PLEASE STAY WITH ME UNTIL THE END.

HOLD ME FIRM AND SPEAK TO ME.

UNTIL MY EYES NO LONGER SEE.

I KNOW IN TIME THAT YOU WILL SEE,

THE KINDNESS THAT YOU DID FOR ME.

ALTHOUGH MY TAIL ITS LAST HAS WAVED,

FROM PAIN AND SUFFERING I’VE BEEN SAVED.

PLEASE DO NOT GRIEVE IT MUST BE YOU,

WHO HAS THIS PAINFUL THING TO DO,

WE’VE BEEN SO CLOSE, WE TWO, THESE YEARS

DON’T LET YOUR HEART HOLD BACK ITS TEARS.

FOR I AM NOW IN A BETTER PLACE,

AND WILL BE WAITING TO SEE YOUR HAPPY FACE.

SO WHEN YOU CROSS THAT FINAL BRIDGE,

LOOK FOR ME ….

I’LL BE STANDING NEXT TO THE FRIDGE.

bye bye CD I`ll miss you

oh Mickey, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dog. I know he was very good to you and that you will miss him terribly. I hope you will be able to find another one, if that is what you want, knowing that CD cannot be replaced. We have had our dog 11 years in February, which is old in dog years, and she goes with me when I run, and talks to me when I get home at night, so I know the special bond that dogs can have in our hearts. I'm deeply sorry. {{{{{Mickey}}}}}

Mick,

So sorry to hear of your loss. I had one particular pet that I lost that felt like losing a child. It really hurt man. So, I can understand what you are going through. Stay strong and remember all the funny things CD did. It is the memories of CD that will stay with you.

Mick,

Sorry for your loss. Pets become closer than friends and their losses can be truly deep. Think of the good times and the way you gave your doggie life experiences above and beyond the usual. I didn't know your friend but knowing you a little makes me know he was loved and returned that love. We are made of memories; revel in yours of your faithful companion.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

we're so very sorry!
dogs are people too
and the holidays make it
worse - wish there were some
words of comfort we could offer
that would make a difference -
we lost our baby - our namesake
here "dudley" 6 years ago - he was
15 - had congestive heart failure and
was euthanized 10 days before Christmas
on my birthday - he was a sweet soul
and even though we now have the
whacked out ike - we miss our "dud"
daily -
when you can, get yourself another -
not a replacement but in tribute to
your great relationship -
it does help - eventually..
we'll be thinking of you......

Thank you everyone for all the comfort and kind words.
I am overwhelmed by the kindness.
That poem was found on the internet where I was searching for certain information. They`re not my words. But they are my thoughts.
He was a loyal buddy.Obedient when he knew he would benefit ;) He had me wrapped around his huge paw.I was his muse.Lucky to have him in my life for 11.5 years.
Mindy there is a huge stack still here for him.
I know its Christmas time and will not make anyone cry anymore.

Mickey,

We've never met but I feel such a connection with you right now. I read the Poem you posted on Friday and it sooo touched my heart & made me cry (but that's OK) that I just didn't know what to say to you at first.

Just to share with you...I had the privilege of having the most incredible, loving companion in my "Mr. Bojangles" (a Samoyed) for a wonderful 12 years. He was my best friend; he listened to everything I had to say, as if it was as important to Him as it was to me; he was happy & acted as silly as I did, when things were good; he nuzzled my hand to let me know he understood, when things were difficult; & all he asked was that I walk him, feed him (cheese!), let him run in the park when I could, and "JUST" love him, and I did, with all my heart! He really was "MY BEST FRIEND", as I know your "CD" was to you.

......only to say, I understand how you feel and I'm not sure there's really anything we could say right now to make it OK for the pain & loss you feel right now.

Please just know, there's alot of us out here who understand and care!

I kinda like thinking that your "CD" has met "Bojangles" now & they're having a jolly good time together....healthy and happy!! And we WILL SEE THEM AGAIN!!!

Love to you Mick!!

....we lost our 2 beloved Miniature Schnauzers, Tucker who was 16 and Smudge who was 14 within the last two years. They were such a large part of our lives - - always there when we needed whatever it was we needed - - they always seemed to know. It took us a while to "replace" them (which would have been impossible) but we recently opened our homes to another Miniature Schnauzer that needed our help. We rescued our new little girl, Sam, from a puppy mill and it was the best thing we've done in a long time. The look in her eyes just told us she needed us. Give yourself time to grieve, it's necessary. But when you're ready, and you'll know, go rescue you another lab that needs you, and all you have to offer, just as much as you need them. Pets are such a vital part of what makes us human. I'll keep you in my prayers and know that CD has two new friends in my little buddies up there. Julie

Just last week, my ex had to put our dog to sleep.

She was 18 and had a wonderful life. She is our baby.

And I'm crying again as I type this.

But I know she's now in a better place, in wonderful health and playing again with her cat brother and sister.

I too was the lucky recipient of a sampler bag of these luscious goodies she sent for my little Sam when we got her a little while ago and have been using them as training incentives. I couldn't pay that dog to take any other treat right out of my hand, but these have done the trick. She loves them and is definitely "addicted". See, the tricky part is, Janey knows that we are all suckers for our pets and are now obligated to buy more or face the humiliation of looking like bad pet owners! :D And, I will be very happy to order more in order to keep house and dog happy and support a fellow LDer in this new venture. Mickey,Real sorry to hear about your dog. Don,t be surprised if you see him or hear him in the next few days. Some believe that the force (spirit) stays around for a while. Sounds weird, but it happens. DOG/GOD.

DOG/GOD.

That explains things. My dog acts like she's in charge around here.

I cant believe Sunday Lucy will have been here a month already.
So to christen her 23rd day here,I took her to get her puppy making plumbing removed. Talk about Jewish guilt !
She's got to be Jewish because she has the stare down perfectly ;)
(one never knows what the fireman is capable of)
Man that crack went fast !!
