Jessica Simpson's Country Record Due in 2008

Jessica Simpson's country album will be released sometime in 2008 on Columbia Nashville, according to Billboard. She tells the magazine she's been collaborating with Nashville songwriters, and that because she's from Texas, she grew up listening to country music and has always wanted to make a country album. In the article, she cites Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as inspirations.

I've heard "Come on Over" and the song has no depth. It's actually quite simple. But, I must say, the only thing that's memorable is the very short and catchy chorus and because I cant get it out of my head, it has become very, very, annoying!

With that said, why has she switched over to Country music? Is it because she's a follower and has seen the many achievements of fresh talent like Carrie Underwood and other young Country Artists?

I mean, she says she's always been a Country music fan. But, why not start out with Country music in the first place? (NOTE: During the start of her career, she first tried to put out a religious album. But, that didnt work out because her father claims her *oobs were too big.) But, back to what I was saying.... Jessica doesnt make the trends, she follows them. For instance, pop music was in. So, she went along with the likes of Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, N'Sync, LFO, 98 Degrees and the Backstreet Boys..etc. She claimed that it was going to be ALL about the voice and that she felt she didnt have to show skin, etc, to sell records. But, she ended up getting more and more sexier as her career went on. (She lost fans because of that.)

And so noooooow, Country Music is poppin' even more and to salvage her broken down pop career, she is heading down the path to Country music stardom....she hopes....

I guess my question is, what if that doesnt work out? What than? Hip Hop? Alternative? Rap?

Does Jessica Simpson know who she is as an artist? How can anyone take her seriously? Someone, tell me pleeeeaaaasseeee...just who is Jessica Simpson?

My sisters and I agree that she sounds better with country. I think it suits her annoying voice if you wanna put it that way.
