This is probably the second worst combination for those of us in Philadelphia. :susp2:

Grudgingly, Go Giants.

From my team, thanks.

I'm surprised how many people I've run into this week who are Dallas fans who have said they wanted the Giants to win over the Pack. I admit I wouldn't say that about the 'Boys, but if it were the Eagles or 'Skins against the Pats, I'd be in the same ship as you are Claire... 'Boys I'm not so sure.

If it were the Cowboys vs the Patriots, I'd vote for taping the game, fast forwarding to the commercials later.

Arrogance vs arrogance.

As I told my husband last night, we can root for Spagnuolo, right? Plus, I have to admire Toomer and Burress for their performances.

And it's a lot easier without Shockey. :]

Anyone know a good sports bar on Bourbon Street?

I think someone will have to carry me back to the hotel that night. Mardi Gras + Giants in the Super Bowl = Massive Night.

I still think the Packers could give the Patriots a better game than the Giants, but I'm happy for them. I predict a score of New England 30, Giants 14, but I hope I am pleasantly surprised. There was one play where Burress dropped the ball near the 5 which resulted in no points, and there was a drop by another player at the 1 that ended up being a field goal. If both of those catches had been made, they could have easily scored 30 points. Eli wasn't spectacular but he was definitely good enough for them to win. A 65-0 Giants victory would be ideal, but obviously I don't expect that to happen. I do feel Eli is due for a bad game, so I just hope it's not this one. Few people expected them to even be close to this position, so I hope they come in realizing they have nothing to lose and nerves don't effect their play. The Patriots have turned me off from football so I don't plan on paying attention to the sport next season except for possibly Vick, but I would definitely sign Eli for another season and hope he's consistent. Otherwise, I think Eli may be better off going to a warmer place like Miami.

Does anyone know what Jeremy Shockey and Tiki Barber have said regarding the Super Bowl? I'd be curious to hear what their thoughts are considering the circumstances.

Jeremy Shockey has actual thoughts? :p

I remember hearing that Tiki said he's not sorry he retired, that he didn't have it in him to play this past year, and he doesn't regret missing this opportunity.

Yeah, right.

One of the Giants players, according to ESPN (and unnamed), reportedly said the Giants wouldn't be in the Super Bowl if Tiki was still on the team.

Plexico predicted a Giants victory. He's a great athlete, but I don't see any reason he had to say that.

Congratulations to the Giants. I'm not sure if I would have given Eli the MVP. He was mediocre in 3 quarters and great in the fourth. The pass for 30 yards in which they had him sacked was amazing and probably one of the best plays I've ever seen. The defense definitely won the game, but I'm not sure if there was one defender who stood out and there is a bias towards quarterbacks. The defense played against 3 top notch offensive teams, and played very well against all of them. Easily one of the best defensive efforts in the playoffs when you consider all of their opponents. I'm curious to see what Giants fans are saying. Does anyone know a good Giants message board?

Apparently, Plaxico Burress and Jimmy Rollins know things. :p

I agree about Eli. His passer rating was around 84 or 86, not MVP-worthy, although his stats were better than Peyton's last year.

My vote would have been for the entire defense, or Tyree, because if he (and his helmet lol) doesn't catch that ball, the Pats win. One play made the whole thing possible.

I'll tell you why I'm now a real big fan of Eli... At the MVP press conference Monday, he was given a Cadillac as the winner. They brought out a checklist from which he could choose. Instead of just marking his selection though (he chose the Esplanade), he wrote Hybrid! :D

What an incredible week and game... My first Super Bowl (I was going no matter who was in), and I get to not only see my team in the game, but watch them stop the not-so-perfect Pats!

What are your expectations on Eli next season? Does he play inconsistently again, or will this give him the confidence to become a top-notch quarterback?

He was off by a few points. I find it funny that Brady laughed about the comment, but yet didn't even score 17. I guess he believes the hype.

Plaxico was also humble about it after the game, still returning to the "just talk" rhetoric.

I think Eli will keep getting better. I'm not overly worried about if his passer rating is "just" in the 80s in a game like this against a team like the Pats. If he keeps the ball out of the hands of the opposing secondary and the Giants new (real?) Thunder and Lightning ground attack remains what it is, they don't have to worry so much about him making the play every time out... I think that's the most important thing he learned as the season rolled on.

The Giants are in very good shape right now. They are pretty young at so many positions, and on offense, they are two-deep just about everywhere. They should be able to keep this young core together for a few years. I suspect Strahan may retire, and we'll see about Feagles and some of the other older guys too. But still, if they get a good linebacker in the draft (Pierce also being a question mark for next season), they should be in fine shape.

Dave, I'm really happy for you, and for the Giants.

But they need to stop now. :p

My father is angry about Strahan's comments being arrogant, but Brady's laugh about only scoring 17 isn't arrogant in his view. He's a Patriots fan, of course. I am surprised Shockey didn't say anything. Some say he causes more harm so maybe he has learned his lesson and won't open his mouth in the future. There was one fumble where the Giant hit the ball but it looked he was trying to get the ball rather than hit it. It was a 10-yard penalty and they were out of field goal range. What are the rules regarding that play? There were a few bad calls, but I wouldn't say they were lopsided.

Shockey wasn't part of this win, or the Giants run to the title. I think that helped convince him to keep quiet.

The Giants' defense coordinator was signed. That should be a big step forward for next season. I still don't think I'll pay attention to football next season due to the Patriots, but I could always change my mind.
