A simmering feud between Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama erupted into charges of distortion and exaggeration in a gloves-off president debate today, with Clinton accusing him of representing a Chicago slumlord and Obama countering that she was a corporate lawyer for anti-union Wal-Mart.
Even in the superheated atmosphere of their fight for the party's nomination, the statements and exchanges between Clinton and Obama were unusually acrimonious and personal.
As Obama tried to defend his recent comments about Republican ideas and Ronald Reagan, Clinton interrupted and said she has never criticized his remarks on Reagan.
"Your husband did," said Obama, who has accused the former president of misrepresenting his record.
"I'm here. He's not," she snapped.
Obama persisted, suggesting the Clintons were both practicing the kind of political tactics that had alienated voters.
"There was a set of assertions made by Senator Clinton as well as her husband that are not factually accurate," Obama said. "I think that part of what people are looking right now is someone who is going to solve problems and not resort to the same typical politics that we've seen in Washington."

Holy cow, that was quite a debate. I think both Clinton's and Obama's handlers told them to tone it down (or sedated them) during the first commercial break, because there was a marked difference between the first and second parts. Neither of them looked good slinging mud.

How true. Edwards came off looking like a statesman in comparison.

Does Obama realize that Hillary is his competition, not Bill?

I guess he's feeling like he's running against them both. Bill is the chicken to Hillary's waffle. (Sorry, now I'm hungry and it's Sparkle's fault.)

Its so freaking good. I had been craving it for months. people think I am crazy. But they're the crazy ones.
I think Obama thinks of the Clinton ticket as the both of them are the same candidate, which I can understand. but he shouldn't make it out like the things that Bill says are out of Hillary's mouth.
