It's bad enough that Rudy struggling in Florida, the state that represents his last hopes. Making matters worse still, it turns out this is happening despite the fact that he's sinking tons of cash into the state.

Check out this little nugget (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/01/14/2008-01-14_will_florida_be_giulianis_sunset_state.html) buried in the New York Daily News:
Giuliani's Florida decline comes as he has flooded the state with money and resources -- including having 50 paid staffers in four state offices and spending more than $1 million on advertising since Christmas.

At this point, sources said, he is spending about $350,000 a day on TV ads, a pace that would leave him essentially broke after Florida's Jan. 29 primary.
Ooof. That's a healthy sum for Florida advertising -- yet despite that, Rudy is showing up in third or fourth place in most polls (http://tpmelectioncentral.com/polltracker/flpres_r/).

That Rudy might essentially be broke after Florida leaves little doubt what his next move would be should he lose by a sizable margin -- drop out of the race. Worse, the campaign is making no efforts to deny that this might happen. Asked if he'd drop out upon losing, Rudy's top strategist said: "I don't know. I mean, that's going to be Rudy's decision."

I don't where all that money's going. I don't see the ads on television, and there just doesn't seem to be any buzz about him here. *shrugs*

I'd like to think the NY transplants are part of the reason he's sinking in FL... If New Yorkers can't be convinced to vote for their former mayor, hopefully the rest of the country will take the hint.

Rudy's lead in California has also evaporated, and McCain now leads there as well.

Looks like the GOP race is getting down to McCain vs. Romney. McCain is such a liberal goofball kook, I can't see why conservatives are voting for him unless it's his strong stance on the war.

FLORIDA PRIMARY

Poll: Giuliani slips to third in Florida

Posted on Wed, Jan. 23, 2008

BY BETH REINHARD AND BREANNE GILPATRICK

Rudy Giuliani has hit the skids in a Florida freefall that could shatter his presidential campaign and leave a two-man Republican contest in the state between John McCain and Mitt Romney, a Miami Herald poll shows.

Despite hovering over Florida voters for weeks, Giuliani is tied for third place with the scarcely visible Mike Huckabee in a statewide poll of 800 likely voters.

With his poll numbers slipping back home in the Northeast, Giuliani's campaign will implode if he can't turn it around in the six days left before Florida's Jan. 29 vote, the final gateway before a blitz of primaries around the nation that could sew up the race.

''He may be running for president, but with these numbers he wouldn't be elected governor of Florida,'' said Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway, whose firm conducted the survey with Democratic pollsters Schroth, Eldon & Associates for The Herald, The St. Petersburg Times and Bay News 9. Alluding to the timeworn song, Conway added: ``If he can't make it there in Florida, he can't make it anywhere.''

Asked about the 13 percent of the voters who haven't made up their minds, pollster Rob Schroth said he didn't expect them to fuel a Giuliani comeback.

''Giuliani for all intents and purposes has virtually no chance to win in Florida,'' he said.

Romney used to be a liberal goofball kook. Now he's a flipflopping goofball kook.

At least we know where McCain stands, last week, this week, and next week.

I'm telling you, there is just no buzz for Rudy in Florida.
Someone needs to stick a fork in him. He's done.
