WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady.
In talking up a joint ticket, the Clintons may be seeking the upper hand, attempting to put her in consideration for the top of the ticket when she so far has failed to win the votes necessary to assure that she would face Republican presidential candidate John McCain in the November election.
The maneuver may also be aimed at countering an image in voters' minds of Obama as presidential material and at helping restore an aura of inevitability as the party's nominee that Clinton had early in the campaign but lost.
"The Clintons are in a difficult position," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa, who has tracked the presidential race.
"If she wins the Democratic presidential nomination, she would need Obama's supporters. But she needs to be careful. If this talk of him on the ticket is seen as a cynical maneuver, it could backfire and hurt her," Goldford said.

Kinda premature ain't they? And sorta desperate?

Both sides have talked about the power of having each other as potential running mates throughout the debates.

I'd rather hear more about that than all the negative ads involved in scrambling for delegates.

I think most folks who are not McCain supporters are prepared to support either of them come November, and the negative campaigning will only dampen that enthusiasm, particularly in the case of Republicans and Independents who aren't voting simply due to party loyalty.

I don't doubt that will be the ticket in November, in whatever configuration. And, I don't believe McCain will have a snowball's chance in hell of beating them.

I would like to see Clinton as president and Obama her vp!

I think Clinton has the much needed experience, and this would give Obama much more needed experience and then 8 years later he can be president!

Its perfect.

I predict they would win by the largest landslide victory in history!

*faints*

I still don't get where all this "experience" came from but I'd like the ticket to be Obama-Clinton *nods*

However, I still like Bill Richardson and Joe Biden. I hope whoever gets the nomination is smart enough to utilize these two in cabinet posts.
