They wanted the type of success, but I think it had to do with the fact that bubble gum pop was selling. Pop music was popular and selling in the masses before she came along, I'm not going to credit her or accuse every artist of copying her just because they came after. Most of Christina's album was recorded before Britney came along anyway and they'd already planned how she was going to be marketed.
