since she couldn't do her scheduled marvin gaye song, she busted out with this and it was a good choice! regarding the lipping, i doubt it will be any different than the tsunami telethon or grammys performance of the song. she always lips the good stuff, but she usually does it well. it's just annoying for fans who wish she would attempt those parts live. but she should do well. she looks good, but a bit tired, though. she's been promoting all over the world. go mimi :)

it's pathetic that she's lipping on a singing competition. she shouldn't have even been asked to perform if she couldn't do it all live.

i've come to expect it from her since it's become such a worsening habit for around 10 years now, so i'm not disappointed anymore, but i completely understand your point. i can imagine how the contestants feel after they have been busting their butts to perform fully live, especially after being mentored and given suggestions by someone who then goes up there and lips the hard stuff. but again, it's sad to say, but if you go into a new mariah performance expecting the worst and hoping for the best, you won't be disappointed. expect high notes to be lipped and if there's a rare occasion where she doesn't, then you'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Mariah can still sing, but not all the time... She's 19 years into her career singing the most difficult of all songs that even Aretha Franklin could not pull off (for example EMOTIONS). As a fan or at least a person who knows her, you should understand.

its crazy how EVERYBODY lips tho. Celine, MC, Christina, Beyonce..like people that can REALLY sing. I remember a time when if you weren't dancing..or on Soul Train lol..youcould NOT lip or your career would END.

anyhoo, i think she always lip, and will always lip the high part of that song. it's a very hard song. be it the grammy, GMA performance, TAOM DVD, or that hurricane bla bla.
