chills absolute chills
as for the eulogy in which I could hear Bruce's voice as I read it ... this stanza stands out
"Of course we all grow up and we know "it's only rock and roll"...but it's not. After a lifetime of watching a man perform his miracle for you, night after night, it feels an awful lot like love."

Two things that affected me so much about the eulogy and the video with such profound sadness are:
In the eulogy when Bruce asked Danny at his last show in Indy what he wanted to play and Danny replied "Sandy" and he closed that paragraph with remembering how they walked the boards with all the time in the world. I hear all of those sounds in that song and as happy and fulfilled as Bruce is today, I'll just bet he longs to have just one of those days back, as we all do about some wonderful moment long ago in our lives.
In the video "we stood side by side each one fighting for the other" and how they were kids and they looked at each other. How huge that footage is today.
Bruce, whenever you are doing anything, whether it's talking politics, inducting someone in the R & R Hall of Fame, honoring a legend on his 80th birthday, celebrating the lives of Arlo Guthrie or Harry Chapin or saying goodbye to someone you loved so dearly, you do it so perfectly, with humor, with the deepest respect and with love that knows no bounds. Tears all over again for Danny and the ones he has left behind.
Danny, rest in peace. We'll keep you in our hearts always.

Bruce.... you once said something to the effect that your dad wanted you to be a lawyer and your mom wanted a writer....
Well she got one - in way more ways than one. What a beautiful tribute to Danny. Thanks for sharing something so heartfelt and personal.

I am 23 years old. I just recently became a diehard fan of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, mostly because I just recently matured enough to understand the deep meaning in a large part of the incredible music they have produced.
With that said, obviously the band has been playing longer than I've been alive, and that fact combined with what I've experienced in this community in the brief time I've been a part of it has helped to develop in me a deep respect for the history of this community -- band and fans.
I just recently attended my first concert last year and attended another this year. It was only then when my understanding of this community was fortified. I experienced the love, true love, that is shared between band and fans. I realized that one drives the other. And together, they produce a deep love for one another that has a significant impact on the lives of both band members and fans. I admire that so much.
"Of course we all grow up and we know "it's only rock and roll"...but it's not. After a lifetime of watching a man perform his miracle for you, night after night, it feels an awful lot like love."
That eulogy solidified my understand of what this community is really about. Good times, bad times, challenges, celebration...life. I can understand how so many of you feel so impacted by one another and this incredible music of such deep meaning. I can understand how you turn to this music -- and this community -- in times of need, in times of happiness, and in times of reflection...to feel and experience life at its fullest.
I suppose it is the recent realization of this incredible community that causes my heart to break so for this loss. Now that I realize how immense this community is (literally and figuratively), I can start to begin to understand what such a loss means.
The eulogy, as so many others have mentioned, provides such perspective on these matters. On the history of the band, the ups and downs of life, and most of all...the importance of loving friends, personified in recent days by the outpouring of love and support for Dan by band and fans. You are all so fortunate to enjoy such things through this incredible community.
God Bless this community. God Bless you all. And God Bless Danny Federici.

What a terrific first post...
It is the community, the kinship of those that get IT and the friendships that evole along the way. I hope you choose to stick around.
