In honor of my boy Hank and I:

Eight Bellies.!

And in honor of a once removed friend, Bryn Bennett from the Boston band BANG CAMARO, I have to go with Hey Bryn.!!

Anyone ever seen these cats in Beantown or elsewhere? This kid is a prodigy, used to be best friends with my former bro-in-law. If you haven't seen them, do so, great show

Greetings from the "thoroughbred capital of the world"! (well, we're trying to claim it anyway). Always nice to see Mickey's annual post. I'm still trying to pick up advice vibes from Secretariat's ghost so I may edit my choices, but, for now, I'm going with Cowboy Cal. Supposedly, if he wins, the moola goes to cancer research.

Win: Cowboy Cal
Place: Court Vision
Show: Bruce's is always best:)

My son took this picture. Can you see him?http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL564/776524/17937833/315723302.jpg

I've got to stay with the horse I picked in the lottery at work, Colonel John, to win.

And, I like the name, so I'll pick Eight Belles to place 2nd. He was gonna run Eight Belles in the Oaks yesterday if he didn't get a good gate for the Derby, but he ended up getting a good spot, so Eight Belles is in for the Derby.

I like your picture Kathy....I can see your son in there....which horse is that and where was it taken? (our roles are reversed and I'm the one asking the 20 questions now....ha!!) :)

Go, Baby, Go!!!!!!! Today is also the day of the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati. :)

I can see your son too.
What a beautiful animal that is.
Some of my best childhood memories was when I was a trailguide at a local county park here.
Up before sunrise and hitch hike 17 miles,
let um out, feed um, clean the stalls, saddle um up,
then ride free all day !!
man those were the days :)

Secretariat's spirit spoke: I edited my picks.

Deena,
That's just some Mom and Pop farm nearby, not one of the top ones.---and just a curious horse that came closer and closer and closer when we stopped to snap the photo.
I met Secretariat once, though, and need to transfer the film photo to digital. --such a beautiful ham!

Mickey, the least they could've done was give you one of the horses to ride back and forth to work!--even if it meant wearing a sandwich board for advertising.:)

I look forward to the Derby & possibly the "triple Crown hopeful" every year ....to watch these horses is just "magic in action" .....but this is so very sad, when such a great event is marred by such a tragedy...RIP "Eight Belles"....as sad a day as losing "Barbero" & the long remembered, absolutely magnificent "Ruffian"....

Being such an animal lover....it was a very difficult day indeed.

Patter you may see a triple crown winner this year the way Big Brown ran. Ruffian's trainer Frank Whitley died this week.

What a great race. RIP Eight Belles, she ran the race of her life. Big Brown looked so strong, I believe we may have a triple crown winner this year. We will see. Especially considering the Preakness is shorter. These are absolutely amazing animals.
