So what you're saying is that if an old piece of paper is "yellowed" that doesn't have a color in it?
I'm not talking about the definition of the word in the song, because in Ruby Tuesday, the "ruby" is a name, not a color, so your argument is as specious as mine.
Why are we all ignoring the obvious White Christmas?
db44
Jun 6th, 2008, 08:10 PM
Yellowed is the have undergone the process of being turned yellow. Such would be the case if something's been jaded. Ruby name of a person or color, is still ruby.
White Christmas? I'm offended! :p No, not really.
Since I'm trying to keep one color, I'll see your White Christmas and turn it Blue!

Green Grass and High Tides
That song was written and performed by The Outlaws, a band I grew up knowing very well, as they were from my hometown. Sadly, most of the founders have passed away. A little history... that particular song (at least the lyric) was actually mostly written by a friend and mentor of the band named J.B. I know. I was there. Sadly, the band never gave him credit and it caused a rift in their friendship. J.B. died shortly after the song became a hit without ever resolving that rift. By the way, J.B. wrote the lyric as a memorial to Brian Jones after his death.

Has this one been posted yet?
Green Green Grass of Home by Johnny Cash
And can we do local singers/musicians as well? Cause if we can then the one I'm coming up with is:
Green Blues (also known as Life Worth Living) by Brent Hermans...
If I get a chance (not today, though, cause it's supposed to storm any time now) I'll post the song Green Blues on Youtube sometime (I just became a member today) and you guys can hear what it sounds like... Don't expect too much of Life Worth Living, because Green Blues and that song are virtually the same thing... The only reason he named the one version Green Blues is because one of our themes for Piano Talk actually happened to be Colors! So yeah, if I can remember, I'll get the song Green Blues on Youtube sometime this week. You can do just audio on there, correct?
pinky
Jul 1st, 2008, 09:13 PM
Yes, Green Green Grass of Home was posted, but I had it as Tom Jones, not Johnny Cash. I would assume it's the same song, though.
And of course local bands have songs that count! We've pretty much run out of songs that have had national success.
edit: I just checked, and they both recorded the same song by Porter Waggoner. Tom Jones was earlier than Cash, though. Others have also covered it.
