Well, a day of rest and anticipation and it is on to the home town Charlottesville show. What makes me most happy about this show is that the day of.. I got tickets for my Parents. My Dad who is from Jersey said he always wanted to see bruce but was never able to. We almost lost him (5 weeks in intensive care) in January but he has brought himself back to much better health. When I asked if he would like to go he was so excited like a little kid! It seemed like alot of the town was going to the show and I worried if they would be a lame audience. We had time for a little tailgating with friends. Then took our seats: side of the stage near clarence , one row back. It sure helps to be friends with one of the architects who built the arena. Earlier in the day I had made a quick list of songs that I would like to hear that we would not neccesarily get. Well, tonight I got 3 of those and he opened with one of them "Loose Ends"! Adam Raised a Cain was raging rock. Got my favorite "Prove It" and Meeting into Jungleland was breath taking. We were even more into this show. The sound was incredibly clear. The guitars were the feature tonight with the boys trading solos. Max was banging the hell out of the drums keeping a tight beat. And.....Bruce put everything he had into it. Each song he gave everything he had to. Like it was the last and only song. Then with hardly a breath right into the next like a freight train giving his all again and again. I don't know how he does it. He pulled out all his performance stunts: swinging from the mike stand, sliding on his knees etc. I was completely into the show. Our section was on its feet and rocking. I got to watch above me my Mom dance and my Dad getting emotionally into it. One of the best parts was my Buddy and his wife got in the Pit and their elbows were on the stage. WE got to watch their faces the entire show. I know that Backstreets gave this show a bad review saying that Bruce was off and the setlist was uninspired. Just because there are no tour premieres. It is all knit picking.I've been going to shows since the early 80's and I say Bruce gave it everything he had and put on an amazing performance. The rest of the band rocked hard and are great musicians. I gave them in return everything I could. I'll never forget that Jungleland performance and tenth avenue was just icing on the cake. I'm a happy man

alot of folks are disagreeing with the BS review.
After reading your review all that matters was what you said at the end. "You were a happy man".
In years that follow, the icing on the cake might wind up being you got to bring your Dad+Mom :)
Now thats cool !
I hope you took pictures with you all tailgating.

Cville,

I totally agree with your review. The Charlottesville show was my 9th of the tour and third that week. What made this show so special for me was getting to take my 13-year-old son to his first show. We were lucky enough to get in the 2nd row of the pit near Soozie and Steve. The pit was rocking hard and into every song. Loose Ends has always been one of my favorite and was an exciting opener. I actually thought it was funny that Max screwed up before No Surrender with Bruce saying "We'll get it right soon!" For You was a real treat and getting 4 songs from the Born to Run album in the encore was great. I thought Bruce was really into the show. During the encores Steve handed to bottles of water to the security and asked him to give the bottles to my son and another kid. That was kind of cool too.

We saw Howie Long and Chris Long at the beginning of the show. Too gigantic guys.

I thought the sound in Charlottesville was as good as anywhere on the tour. While the setlist in Greensboro was more unique, I was sitting in a section where everyone was sitting and people got mad when I stood up. With the exception of the Anaheim shows I was fortunate enough to attend, the Charlottesville show will stand out as a highlight of this tour for me, especially getting to share it with my son. I too left a happy man!

Mark,

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to hear the quality of the boot.. Bruce's voice was in really fine form that night. I just love how this music can make a connection across generations. And, Brucenut you are right..I was savorying those moments knowing that these will be special memories.
