I'm going with my wife to her first ever Springsteen gig in Manchester and she has NO experience of his work other than maybe the odd single. All my listening goes on without her (in car).

So, can anyone suggest a compilation CD (or CD's) that will best cover stuff he's playing on this tour?

I want her to be familiar with the stuff he plays otherwise i'm worried she'll feel a little 'left out'.

Thanks everyone!!

Go to Bruce's web site and check out the set list, you will have lots of ideas available.

more important DO NOT over hype the show or experience, if you make the expectations sky high she may not have the experience you'd like her to. Act like it is any other concert but definitely put together a mix CD, there are standard songs to include and then you can choose the wild cards to add in. Have fun

I'm doing the same thing for a co-worker. Probably three CDs - one with live stuff (the stories), one with hits, rarities, outtakes and b-sides, with the third one the Born to Run CD.

Give her BTR and one more CD, max. She doesn't have to know every song he's gonna play. Don't overwhelm her with 7 alternate versions of Be True.

On the non-BTR CD, include the 5-7 songs from Magic that he's gonna play (check the setlists), plus American Land, Badlands, Promised Land, The Rising, and fil up the rest with good songs.

I agree, don't hype it at all!! have fun.
