Has anyone here ever been an audience member for the Late Show with David Letterman? I won a ticket for next week (I'm in town for a conference) and read somewhere they filmed two shows on Thursday afternoon (one each for Thursday and Friday night shows).

Is the same audience used for both nights or do they swap us out? I recall watching a show when Dave commented how this audience was better than the previous night, getting a big laugh.

Hey Tarik, I'm not sure of the answer (maybe the website will help), but I work just up the block, so let me know if you want me to stop by and find out, no problem. And if you go to the show, we should meet up.

I have been an audience member a couple times. Old and new studios. Absolutely worth doing. Great to see the show from a different perspective. Unfortunately I don't know about the Thurs/Friday thing. Good luck

When it is scheduled they swap out. Usually about 60 minutes in bewtween for Dave & Paul to change and refresh the green room.
They hustle them in and out. Bring warm clothes, Dave keeps the place like a meat locker.

He does pull fast ones sometimes and does two on Thursday.
Whoever wants to stay can and tourists fill up the rest.

I`ve been 4 times and each time was amazing.
Swampy gives great advice about it being ccccccold.
To answer your question, most of the time they use a fresh crowd if he does a 2nd show. May is sweeps. So you might get a 2nd show.So ask if theres a 2nd show when you arrive and what you have to do to get into it. You might have to signup on Bill,Teds,Frank and Lowells fan run list ;)

I was last in the audience on a Thursday back in '02. It was the day Bruce and the Band taped back-to-back episodes. They had a different audience for each show, and we were lucky enough to be in the second one (aired that Friday) when Bruce was actually interviewed by Dave. Still the only live talk show interview he's ever done.

Also, don't get the sushi at FlashDancers across the street. I mean, I've never eaten it there, but I'm just guessing.
If you eat meat, there's a great burger at McGee's right around the corner.

Last time I was in the audience I got to see the Spice Girls perform. The wait is kind of long and annoying too. Anyway, have fun and let me know your plan, Stan.

Thanks for your input, everyone. I'm looking forward to being back in the city. Haven't been there since the Fall of 2000 (does Mets and Yankees ring a bell?). I'll be sure to wear my Stone Pony t-shirt to get in the front row... ;)

Darren, would love to hook up. Don't worry about sushi or FlashDancers. I'll be looking for authentic NYC pizza (by the slice, of course). I'm sure you'll know where to take me...

It's been a good many years since I did that. Oliver Platt was plugging Lake Placid. We had really close seats. You have to get there early. The pages @ Letterman are alot nicer than the one's @ Conan.

I'm flying in on Wednesday. Want to meet for dinner that night or after Letterman taping on Thursday?

Your PM box is full. No real preferences for food. During my short stay, though, I would like to find a "real" NYC pizza place (thin crust, duh!) where I can buy by the slice, probably for Wednesday night. I'm staying in mid-town and don't mind walking. BTW - will I need a jacket for the rain and/or cold? I'm trying to pack light. Thanks.

Cool, i emptied my folder, finally. It's really hard to find good NY pizza by the slice in midtown but I'll scout it out and come up with some options. If you're gonna be in Spanish Harlem (or have an hour or two to kill), Patsy's on 1st ave and 118th is awesome.

Tomorrow is gonna be really nice, but allegedly it might rain Thursday. I would probably suggest a light jacket in case it rains or at night, depending on your constitution, you might want it or you might not need it. But like, very light windbreaker/jean jacket/hoodie kind of thing will be enough.

Yesterday it was freezing, blustery and cold with temps in the low 50s. It felt like March, so you're lucky you're coming in later!

Not sure how much time you have but if you want to try a variety of NYC Pizza, this tour is fantastic. It's a little pricey but an awesome time for pizza lovers

John's of Bleeker street has a second location on 43rd between 7th & 8th. Try it with sausage and essence (garlic) We think this is better than Patsy's. Of course the one on Bleeker is better than 43rd.

Looks like I brought the nice weather with me to NYC. It's quite warm in the city. Lots of girls in their summer clothes, ifyouknowwhati'msayin... ;)

BTW - I think I saw firefighter Rich. Just as we were walking out of our hotel for a bite to eat, Engine #21 "Hell's Kitchen" pulled up in front, with the Nomex crew walking in the front door with big ass axes...

Spamalot tonight. Letterman then dinner with Bronx Darren tomorrow.
