So the other day one of my friends who's not into Boybands asked me which group I love more. BSB or NKOTB and I was completely stumped for an answer. Still can't decide. Just interested to see what others have to say about this.

I don't know if this helps you at all but for me personally I haven't gotten that excited over BSB newest album. So much so that I don't know their latest single(although i did get the album) or if its getting any airplay. Now NKOTB on the other hand, I'm going completely nuts over right now!! I've been listening to the radio even more trying to catch "Summertime" being played which I have only once(but according to the radio station's site it's being played alot, I just haven't caught it more than once LOL). So to answer your question it's up to you which you want to get excited more over but for me it's NKOTB.

As much as I love both, NKOTB is more exciting for me right now.

This is the honest to God truth.
Unbreakable came out in October.
I only bought it in December at a place that was closing down (so I bought the deluxe edition for 10 bucks.)
I took the shrink wrap off in February.
I only started playing it in April and only to managed to get halfway through before shutting it off.
So you can see the level of interest I have in their last CD is rather low. I'm going to the show out of loyalty in a "it's a habit" way (though I am excited for VIP.)
For NKOTB? They're the reason I love pop music, period. I HATED grunge and as much as I tried to listen to it, morose lyrics and guitar driven tracks aren't my thing. Give me cheesy one liners any day.

Maria,
You've gotten further than I have with Unbreakable. I took the shrink wrap off and looked at their thank you's(it's a habit I have I don't know why LOL) but haven't listened to it at all yet(I know some of the song titles but if any of them besides Inconsolable came on the radio I wouldn't know it).
As for NKOTB they are the reason I like Pop music too. Before them I was a hardcore(if you can call it that with this type of music) country fan LOL I mean I still listen to country but if you look at my Itunes list I guarantee you over 50% would be pop and that's because of NKOTB.

Well, right now, NKOTB, but overall, probably BSB. I was young when NKOTB were at their peak, so I didn't get as attached as everyone else did. I was 12/13 when BSB was huge, so I have wayyy more memories of my BSB obsession.

NKOTB is my first love and the band I have more years of "love" with. I feel like I grew up with them.
I've always joked that Joe has my heart and Nick has my vadge, lol.
I love both bands' music (for the most part, although BSB's latest is a big thumbs down in my book) and enjoy their voices very much. But if it came right down to it...if I had to pick between the two...I'd have to go with NKOTB. I was a Blockhead first and will be a Blockhead last.

Lmfao at Joey having your heart and Nick having your vadge!
I guess I would have to go with BSB even though they have been a bit of a let down lately. Nkotb were my first loves, but I was really young back then and didn't get to experience them the way I have with BSB. I was only 10 when I became a NKOTB fan so I was a little teenie fan lol,but with BSB I started liking them when I was 18 and was able to do the whole roadtrip, hotel, multiple concerts ect. I love both groups though.

I guess it all depends on who you ask. For me, I'm just getting interested in The New kids right now, but have been a fan of BSB for 10 years. Hands down, I would choose BSB. Others have been fans of New Kids for many many years are extremely excited about this reunion...no doubt. It's awesome for them, and people like me who are new to the who NKOTB experience. Regardless of who you like better, you enjoy both...so it really shouldn't matter either way.

New Kids were my first loves and still are! I don't even own BSB new album. Their new music sucks. And I am so much about New Kids that I go Backstreet who when people ask me about them. And I have never had a desire to go to the Today Show when BSB were there but went down for New Kids. I just looove them! I hope I get a VIP tomorrow!

I think that's a fair point that depending on how old you were when NKOTB were huge, either you loved (or hated) them or were simply too young to remember. Last time I was "in love" with NKOTB, I was 13. Now I'm 30. It's just really by circumstance I've seen more BSB shows (the one in August will be my 4th.)

Exactly! When I was in my NKOTB faze it was from ages 10-13.I was the typical teenie and was lucky enough to have a cool mom willing to take me to a concert, but for BSB when I first got into them I was 18 so I could travel for them and stuff.Ive been around BSB way more had some great experiences with the guys and ya really cant compare my almost 30 BSB shows to the 1 NKOTB show that Ive been to.I hate when people ask me which group I love more cause I seriously cant choose. And now it seems like thats all people wanna ask me lol.

That's absolutely true. I wasn't even born when New Kids Came out. I discovered who they were from my mom, since she was such a huge fan and now I'm growing into a huge fan of theirs myself. I grew up listening to BSB, so they had more of an impact. And the fact that I recall so much memories and how obsessed I was with them just makes me love them more.

It's good to see NKOTB bringing in new fans, as well as holding onto that fanbase they had years ago! Go'head!

Oh, you're a new fan? Very cool. And I guess it explains some of your defensiveness when it comes to BSB. I have to defend both groups to both sets of fans. It's tiring.

I can't really say I love one over the other. It's been hard to feel the BSB love lately, as they haven't really wowed me with anything they've done in a while. And I'm so wrapped up in the NKOTB-ness that it would be easy to say that I prefer them. Right now, I DO prefer the NK. It's not just because of nostalgia...because for me, if they weren't bringing anything new to the table, or the new music sucked, I wouldn't be as excited. So I have to disagree with a comment someone made in another thread saying that NK fans will love anything they do because it's been 15 years. They were my first "loves", and I'm enjoying the nostalgia as well as all the new creamy goodness.
But I have to say I've spent the past 10 years as a BSB fan, whereas I was a NKOTB fan from '88-'92 (didn't get into the FTM period) and moved on. NK were a fond memory, but I didn't continue to follow them religiously. I'd just check up on them from time to time to see what they were up to. I bought Joe and Jordan's solo cds, and kept up with Donnie's acting. But as far as the group, I rarely listened to their music until earlier this year. But I've been involved in the BSB fandom for a decade & developed a lot more friendships through that fandom than the NK.
Basically, me and the NK go back farther, but I've been a bigger BSB fan over the past decade.

Yes..it does. LOL. I find myself going to New Kids sites, and then somehow always getting into a discussion about BSB. I really like New Kids older songs though. They're catchy and fun.

I don't know that it's a matter of loving one group more than the other. I love them both. Right now, I'm more into NKOTB, because I will actually be attending one of their concerts and it's just so damn exciting that they're back. I've become real apathetic when it comes to BSB, but I think that's mostly out of sadness that I won't be seeing them, lol.

I think I've said this on the BSB board but it's a different love for both groups. I could never pick one over the other. They both were special at different times in my life - still are now!

Just for clarification on one of my previous comments, I think it may have come across the wrong way and not how I intended it to. I definately didn't mean that it was all about nostalgia for all of the New Kids fans. If I thought that, I wouldn't be on this board or going to one of their concerts in September...seeing as how I didn't get into them back in the early 90's.
All I meant was....a lot of their fans will be so delighted that they have a new video and being able to see them together in an actual music video, that they will be happy and excited with pretty much any video they released at this moment. If they weren't performing well or what not, then I think their fans might be a little dissapointed. Luckily so far they seem to be pleasing the crowds in general. They did pretty well on the Today show if I say so myself.

Yeah that's how I feel. Its just annoying that everyone keeps asking me who I like better, which group sings better, etc. Its like can't I heart both and not have to pick lol.

It's kinda like who do you like better, your boyfriend in 6th grade or your boyfriend now? At least for me anyway.
My love and adoration for NKOTB was a "young" love. I REALLY thought I would marry Joe. I slept with a bear that had his pin on it for years. I was in love with the "thought" of them, not exactly their "talent". Don't hate, you gals know what I mean. They were a very important influence on me as far as being positive and staying away from drugs etc., okay so they weren't but their persona got me. lmao
For BSB, it was/is more of a "mature" love. One that I truly appreciate their talent and artistry. Is that a word? I feel/felt like I really got to know them as public figures. I went to more shows, was able to meet them more etc.
Now that NKOTB are back, it's weird for me. I'm not sure how to really discribe it. I'm so thrilled to see them back but it's almost TOO bizarre to me. Maybe it's just because of where I'm at in my life. I don't know. I can't quite put a finger on it. I've really been thinking about it a lot. lmao
So, anyway, that's my story. ;)
