Oh, for the love of Pete! More insane P/C silliness from Liberals.

At least one Muslim community leader says he feels the same way. Muhammad Najieb says that 'God' is central to the Muslim faith, and there are several references to him in every prayer.

What's funny is the enlightened principal banned it because he/she felt Muslims would be offended by the reference to God. Ummm...I'm pretty sure Muslims believe in God. I think the enlightened principal is the one who's offended by the reference to God. Yep...

This occurred in Oregon which is second only to San Franistan in kookery...so this is to be expected.

Pledge of Allegiance

(CBS) Most children growing up in the US memorize the Pledge of Allegiance. But, in one Oregon elementary school, the kids won't be allowed to recite it at an end of the year assembly.

The principal banned it that day so as not to offend Muslims.

One resident of Portland, Oregon was a little surprised when she received an e-mail from her stepson's school principal.

The e-mail said that the children would not be reciting the pledge because of its reference to God.

Instead, the students would memorize and sing the Preamble to the United States Constitution.

But it's not just non-Muslims who were offended.

At least one Muslim community leader says he feels the same way. Muhammad Najieb says that 'God'
is central to the Muslim faith, and there are several references to him in every prayer.

Portland school officials say the principal was trying to be sensitive, but some Muslims say the ban caused hurt feelings, and may foster bitterness and division within the community.

Not quite banned. Not quite accurate.

When a parent asked about the change, Principal Pam Wilson said the pledge contained the words "under God" and that she wanted to be respectful of students and families who believe differently, such as those in the Muslim community.

Wilson has said she shouldn't have singled out the Muslim community and wasn't implying by her e-mail that Muslims don't believe in God.

Portland Public Schools doesn't require that the pledge be said at graduation, although all students must be offered the opportunity to recite it during the school year.

Shelby has answered each e-mail by saying that Wilson's explanation "was a quick one, not the full one," and that Capitol Hill has students with many beliefs who don't fully participate in the pledge.

"As the document this great country of ours is founded on, the preamble is a fitting text to recite as a show of respect and patriotism," Shelby's reply says. "The principal of Capitol Hill Elementary has not removed the Pledge from the school, nor has she altered its wording in any way. Students will continue to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at Capitol Hill Elementary School."

Accuracy? Who gives a crap about accuracy when you can go on another senseless right-wing nutjob rant?

The unpatriotic bastid principal decided they should sing the preamble to the Constitution instead. You remember the Constitution, Regis? That document that George Bush and his buddies love to violate?
