Orlando Sentinel:

For three years, much of the big-business community in Florida -- including Disney, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Retail Federation -- had vigorously opposed legislation intended to ensure that employees could store guns in their vehicles while at work. That opposition was offset by strong support from the National Rifle Association, however, and such a bill finally was approved this spring by the state Legislature.
But Disney now contends it is largely unaffected by the measure.
In a memo circulated last week and obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Disney World Vice President of Public Affairs Shannon McAleavey advised other company executives that, with a few exceptions, "this law does not apply to Walt Disney World Co. owned and leased properties." Consequently, Disney "continues to maintain a zero tolerance policy" for guns. If an employee brings one onto Disney World property without authorization, it could be grounds for termination, the memo states.
...
Disney cites language within Florida's newly enacted "Preservation and Protection of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Motor Vehicles Act of 2008" that creates an exception for companies whose primary business is to manufacture, use, store or transport explosives regulated under federal law.
"I intended it to exempt places like defense plants, Air Force bases, things like that," said Peaden, who sponsored the bill in the Senate. "But not Disney. Not at all."
But on the same day that the House took its final vote on the gun bill, the exemption for explosives companies was revised so that it also includes "property owned or leased by an employer who has obtained a permit" under federal law for such explosives.
Disney has such a permit, for the extensive fireworks used in its theme parks.

Disney World is all private property. The NRA can cry about it all they want, the government has no juristdiction on Disney soil in a case like this.

Actually, I have friends who drove down to Disney years ago in a mobile home that had a mouse in it.
When they got down there, she insisted that they kill the mouse!

Did you stay in one of the hotels at the resort? You know, I've lived within an hour or two of Disney practically all my life and I've not been there in years. lol But, I'm definitely planning a trip, and a stay at the African Animal... whatever, resort.

I'm meeting a former LDer in November at WDW for our collective birthdays. She and her entourage is staying at French Quarter... I'm staying at Saratoga Springs.
The dining plan never seems all that worth it to me.

Ooh, is that Mel, Dave? Are you still in touch with her?
If so, please give her my best regards!

Yes, I'm still in touch with Mel, not it's not her... I will still pass on your regards though. I was hoping to see her while I was East next week, but it ain't happenin'. I will be heading to the Philadelphia area for business one day though, but not up to Boston.
It's Lia, who I will see next week.

Keep in mind if you mess with the conglomerate known as the Mouse, you are also messing with ABC. Combined with Disney, television has more power than the AFA ever dreamed of having.
*perks* Animal Kingdom Lodge or Villas? Intriguing ... oh yes ...

Not sure... I'm not even sure where I'm going per se. I've been told to take the train to Trenton, and they will pick me up... Hopefully I don't end up in the river by Camden.

I'm planning on going to Disneyland (Anaheim) next month, I'm excited. I didn't know that the parking structure is one of the biggest in the country, it is pretty huge.

I think for 2 of us we paid roughly 500 for the dining plan and probably ate 600 - 700 worth of food....of course we went to some really nice restaurants while we were there ha.

You're going to DL to see the Mickey and Friends parking lot? Man, you're a cheap date! ;)
I was last at DL in May... Living in AZ, it's an easy trip.

When we took our kids to DL, I was the biggest kid there! I was the one who balked at leaving at night. I was the one who absolutely HAD to ride the teacups.
My kids were ready to go back to the hotel way before me.

I get lost in the structure every time.
I am probably moving to anaheim soon, i need to get another annual pass. It's always a good evening after work to go ride a couple of rides and see fireworks.
I don't quite understand the need for a gun in your car at disneyland/world. I didn't think it was even permitted to carry a weapon in your car. I had a classmate arrested for having a baseball bat in his backseat.
