View Full Version : Bruce in Nashville

I was just on Ticketmaster and was very surprised to see tickets available in all sections (including GA on the floor) for the 21 Aug show in Nashville. I would have thought he'd be selling out everywhere. Has this been typical on the tour?

it is a sign of the economy.

It's not the economy. Other bands have no problem selling out shows at even higher prices in this economy. It's Bruce's saturation of the market for the past 9 years. He has toured every year since 1999, with the exception of a one-year break in 2001.

Anyone received their tickets yet? I purchased mine when it went onsale two weeks ago. Usually after a week, the tickets are printed and ready to ship. I checked my ticketmaster account and it still says it is in the process of being printed.

2004 also

It is partly the economy but I agree oversatauration is playing a part.

Maybe they are holding off for a possible cancellation due to lack of ticket sales ?

No Tickets here yet. We have all seen Bruce play at arenas where ticket sales have been slow, they are still great shows.

2004 also

Actually 2004 caused a lot of the current problems. The VFC tour felt like The Rising warmed-over. When Cleveland GAs were widely available we knew Bruce was losing ground.

The problem is that Nashville is, first and foremost, a town of "country" music, however that is defined these days. No doubt there are some fine singers and songwriters doing the club circuit there. But the absolutely schlocky, uninspired, contrived, kind-of-like-warmed-over-retreads-of-the-worst-of-the-'80s-overproduction-and-gimmickry tripe that the town commercially pumps out like so much putrid swill these days, and the "fans" who buy into it, are about as far from Springsteen as you can get.

Sounds like just the place for Bruce to spin yet one more conversion!

Ok, I've been a Tennessee resident for almost 40 years (I'll be the big 40 in November). Although I've only lived in a Nashville suburb for the past year, Nashville can certainly appreciate all kinds of music.

I am quite surprised at the lack of ticket sales but considering there has been, to my knowledge, no advertising for the event, it is understandable. I've been flipping back and forth between stations during the limited down time of Bruce CD's and have heard nothing. I find that ironic since Carrie Underwood is scheduled for DECEMBER and the country stations are giving tickets away and advertising like crazy. But, I digress...

I, personally, can't wait!! Bruce will be in our hometown on my son's birthday (those of you who knew me way back when I posted a lot as paiger, that would be MY Evan James' 11th birthday). So, I will have the kids in tow for their first Bruce show with the ESB. I'm very excited--not to mention, I've seen him, as have many others, when he played to unexpectedly small audiences and totally cut loose and had a ball. We all know what to expect when Bruce is having fun!!

So, Nashville says, "BRING IT ON!!"

I've arranged for some meetings in town the week of the show, so I'll be there.

Nashville has so much music to be found weekly that most things are not such a big deal. It's also a market of last minute ticket buyers, rather slow and laid back and as Paiger said not even any advertising yet. There will be all the people we need..wouldn't mind a small audience for a change.

If anything I would expect quite a few country "Stars" to attend the show...how many of them have covered Springsteen songs? I know Faith Hill,Trisha Yearwood and of course The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band years ago...I'm sure there are many others but I'm over 40 and its getting late so I'm not thinking to clearly...they play Bruce videos on CMT for goodness sakes...

I got my Nashville tickets in the mail today....it is always so exciting to get Bruce tickets in the mail!!!! 4 months since what I thought would be my last show....Nashville can't get here fast enough. :)

When I ordered my tickets on the phone, my ticket agent was extremely nice and she told me there would be a long period of time until the tickets got printed and sent out.

I'm so glad to hear that there will be quite a few people in town for the show!! I'm going to scope out some restaurants/pubs for the pre-show. I've got to make some phone calls and I'll let everyone know what I come up with.

They are finally starting to advertise...I saw something on the news about them giving away tickets. Let the games begin! :blueeek:

GA's still available as of a few minutes ago. Could it be that the country folks don't want to get their boots dirty in the pit? (just kidding!) :)

I believe the airlines have decided to defer/cut/screw Nashville flights. So, it is doubtful that we can import viewers/participants, boots or no. :noway:

My boot scootin' butt will be front and center with the other 14 people at the concert, enjoying every minute of it

The good news is that, since I'm short and will have my kids with me (who are currently shorter than me) that Bruce's ability to see my signs requesting songs should not be impeded by people standing in front of me! Let's see...what should the sign request...Pony Boy...The Bishop Danced...BITUSA...so many to consider.

Or you could hand your INCIDENT sign to your very tall friends who will be front and center....we'll be happy to oblige. Southern hospitality and all.

Paige

I would think that Corinne should have a sign that says "Bruce you're my REAL dad" in rememberance of that Atlanta show (:==:)

Andrew...I still dream of that night :blueeek:

Corinne is certainly my offspring--she loves to sing every song that she knows the words to (even though neither of us can carry a tune in a bucket)! Actually, it doesn't really matter if she knows the words or not, come to think of it.

So, why are you not coming to Nashvegas??? Word has it that there might still be one or two good seats available.

How about "Walk Like a Man?" Anyone know when that was last played?

Ah Paige of the 7 recently announced FINAL shows 4 fall on weekends and are back to back so those are the ones i'm doing as that is more shows for the money to see Jacksonville and Charleston together than just Nashville by itself sadly.

ps for Thundercrack whilst Walk like a Man hasn't been performed with teh band since the ToL tour it had two solo outings on D&D in Sweden and Cincinnatti.

I forgot, only the REAL FANS will be at the Nashville show. That's why there are so few tickets gone, now. It's a special 'thank you' show only for those fans who really love and appreciate BS/ESB and can do whatever it takes to make it here.:rolleye2:

Andrew--as for the fortune you have spent...I have no job, two kids and a poodle...the 4 shows I've seen this tour, in essence, equal your 20:rolleye2:

Tarik--Yes, we all know how 'special' Andrew is :D
