Yeah, he did falter a bit at the beginning, but did just fine otherwise. Maybe he was a bit nervous - I don't think he'd sung in public for a while (?).
And the way he held the note on "...the land of the free"? Awesome!
I think his voice has only gotten better with age, even just since "Saturday Night". He's sounding good, imo.
:)
And, yes, I saw the other vid. Neato! :)

I totally agree with you, those notes at the end were just amazing, the song just got better as he sang on and ended perfectly! I too think he was a little nervous seeing that it's the first time he's sung in front of a big audience in a long time so that might have caused that little voice mishap at the beginning. Overall I think he did really good and he hasn't lost his voice at all if you ask me.

yeah he was a little pitchy to start, but he got it back by the end. SSB is a very hard song to sing anyway, so for his first live performance in about a year, and only the 2nd in a long long time.....he did just fine. i was actually really impressed at how he sang the end of the song.

I cant believe someone would judge him on one tiny little mistake. you have to pick up on one small mistake, even though the rest of his performance was perfect.

When the video started and his voice was a little shaky I got a little nervous. He must've been nervous performing the National Anthem in front of people for the first time in a while. Plus, that's one of the hardest songs for even the most amazing singer to sing. But then he kept going and it got better and better. I was completely amazed. He sang it so beautifully. I held my breath for the long notes (I got nervous again) and then couldn't help but smile for the entire remainder of the song. I'm really proud of him.

...okay, I'm NOT saying that he's the worst singer in the world...I just think he needs to get some voice lessons, that's allll
I mean, YES aaron seems to be a very nice person (i've never met him) but in all honestly, compared with the other teen stars today, his pipes seriously lag behind everyone else. I mean, listen to like Kate Voegel or the jonas brothers or even Miley Cyrus. when they sing...they just sound...their voice has the WOW factor. I mean, heck yah, aaron carter kicks MY butt when it comes to singing the national anthem, but i'm not comparing him to average people, i'm comparing him to other popstars.

miley can actually sing very well - her voice just has a distinct pitch and raspyness to it that not a lot of people have. hear her live and shes really great.
and as for aaron, he sounded amazing. so he was a little shaky in the beginning- he was nervous. i would be if i were him - he hasn't performed in front of a crowd in about three years. his voice sounded a lot stronger than it had previously and he's definitely not losing his voice. he has a wow factor - maybe some people shoudl take a closer look!

every singer is going to need vocal training every once in a while to keep their sound and their voice. whitney houston or celine dion even needs it once in a while.
aaron has far from a bad voice. his voice is amazing. so what, he messed up on a part? big deal. some people amaze me with what they can pick apart about him.

Agree with the first half -- but to say Aaron's voice is "AMAZING".....I HUGELY disagree. Granted, I think he is way better then what I ever gave him credit for...but there is nothing AMAZING about his vocals nor will there ever be. He's a singer. He can hold a note and he has a voice. But to say he's amazing would to put him in the same category with other AMAZING male singers such as Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight, Usher and even the pop world with Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke...he could never match any of them vocally.

I wouldn't say Justin's voice was AMAZING either -- but he's at the top as far as pop goes which is why I included his name. That being said, Aaron could never match Justin's tone or range and that's just an example. I'm a fan of Aaron more than I ever thought I would be, but he has such a nasal sound and that's the only thing that REALLY bugs me about his voice. Other than that, he's alright.

You're opinion -- MILLIONS of other people disagree with you and I'm quite sure ALL industry professionals would too. Aaron can't hold notes any longer than the average singer. If you're using his national anthem for an example of him holding notes, the notes he held were pretty much standard for anyone doing the national anthem.

It is NOT cruel to state an opinion that isn't overly flattering. Its not insulting, or anything else either. Aaron is the ONLY popstar from the 90s that I still listen to, and I will say that he does out-sing other "teen stars" from disney like hilary duff and linsay lohan. but its NOT TRUE to say that he's an amazing singer, because quite frankly there is nothing overly impressive about his voice right now. i'm not just picking at his one mess up when he started singing the national anthem, I'm talking about the whole song. the parts he didn't mess up weren't fantastic either...i mean, they weren't BAD, but if the mark of incredible just means not being BAD, then that's an amazingly low ranking. aaron can't just expect to be called an "amazing singer" because of Who he is or what he used to sound like; he has to earn that right by singing well!

I never called him an "AMAZING" singer. But yes, your opinion, as far from reality as it is, was BOTH cruel AND insulting. If you don't think saying "...his voice really sucks..." is cruel and insulting, well then I guess that says a lot about you...especially when almost everyone here vehemently disagreed with your analysis. As far as I can see, your "opinion" was nothing more than a nasty cheap shot based on little or nothing.

okay, I DID NOT "LAUNCH A VICIOUS ATTACK". THAT is "bullcrap". I stated an opinion. I acknowledge that i worded it wrong. if aaron carter is offended by it, i apologize to HIM. but at the same time, I refuse to believe that he lives in a bubble and has no idea that MANY music critics have written that his voice needs improvement; actually, they've written it VERY rudely, and THEY have written what I would call a "vicious attack". the only difference is the MANY people read those articles; and if you happened to look online , you would see that precious few people (quite frankly, ONLY the ones on aaron carter fan sites) tend to agree with YOUR opinion.
and I also think that everyone that is "concerned about what aaron reads" should keep that in mind when ~80% of everything that is posted on this site goes insanely into his personal love life; I have the respect for him as a person to avoid doing that. unlike others.
...and if aaron carter ever happens to read this: "I want people to respect your music and respect you as an artist. therefore, i tell you what I think of your voice, in hope that you will get even better. I am a huge fan - of aaron carter music that is."

You stated an opinion using the harshest terms possible. It was totally unnecessary and uncalled-for to be so blatantly rude and insulting, whether it be here or on any other site. YOU are not a music critic. How do I know this? The worst of them displays far better judgement than to write something as COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL as what you wrote. It's laughable that you talk about respect. It couldn't be more obvious that you don't know the meaning of the word.

This isn't about opinion. Not at all. And one does NOT need to be an English major to show some common decency and respect when voicing their opinion. Not at all. THAT'S what this is about.
tupac
Aug 28th, 2008, 06:48 PM
this has nothing to do with the 'english' she used. its about the fact that saying that his voice SUCKS does not mean what shes trying to say it means now. your opinion is like your a$$hole, everybody's got one. however, when you know the way your going to say something is going to come across rude and insulting - usually a person with enough sense will reevaluate exactly what they want to get across and say it nicely. she didn't and instead of admitting she was wrong and saying that the words she used were, in fact, insulting - she is now arguing.
this is like beating a dead horse.

I agree...so on that note. If one person thinks that his voice "sucks" everyone else should respect that and let them have their opinion. Don't agree with it, don't argue with it, give your own opinion and move on. I'm not singling that to any one person, that goes to everyone (myself included).
No one is denying anyone their opinion. I couldn't care less that it may differ from my own. However, I for one do not think it is necessary to state one's opinion in such a blatantly rude and insulting manner. In fact, I find it absolutely deplorable and in extremely poor taste to state "...his voice really sucks...". Like I said, it's a simple matter of common decency and due respect to find a much less nasty way to convey one's opinion.

do you now?
alright, I'll state it so that you can understand EXACTLY what I mean.
If I ride in an airplane and if it flies like its going to fall out of the sky, I'm going to tell the engineer that built it that their design SUCKED. I don't care if they graduated from MIT.
If I eat a cookie that's hard enough to break someones tooth, I'm going to tell the chef that their recipe SUCKED. I don't care if she's Martha Stewart.
If I listen to a singer, REGARDLESS OF WHOM THEY ARE, and their voice sounds REALLY BAD, I'm going to tell them so. ---- AND THEIR NOT GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF IT.
I seriously don't know why this is so hard to understand...
lol, and by the way...I'm an English minor....and, cough, professionals who've grading my work - which has also been published several times in my college paper - have told me I could go professional...
but i don't need to prove anything to you. :)
since you PERSONALLY feel offended that I said "an aaron carter performance sucked"...well, what can I say? I think aaron carter would be cool with it. He doesn't seem like he's going to crumble if someone says something critical of his work, so I don't see why you would be.

Oh, I understand EXACTLY how rude, nasty and insulting you were. So does anyone else who read it. You're missing the point entirely, but that does not surprise me. You keep trying to make it about things that it's just not about at all. Apparently there are some things YOU are incapable of understanding....like respect and common decency. You've proved THAT to me...beyond any doubt. :greyno:

OMG, people it's really not that serious. If they think his voice sucks on THIS performance, than thats how they feel. They don't have to talk sweet or sugar coat anything that they don't want to...including Aaron. Obviously this person is a fan and/or supporter or else they wouldn't be here. It's not that serious. Let them have their opinion and move on. Being an Aaron fan, you should be used to people saying he sucks. There are PLENTY more people out there saying that he sucks and is untalented verses people who do. I'm sure he has thick skin about it at this point so you should to...drop it. A mod needs to lock this topic.

I guess some people are just more ignorant than others when it comes to expressing themselves with tact. I've resigned myself to that fact. As far as locking this thread goes, I think it's an excellent idea. It's just creating a lot of animosity here that no one wants.

he totally should do a meet and greet! :D
same here!
He was always sooo nice at those meet n greets! lol
I'm sure he has his reason's for taking his time.
Nothing is wrong with his voice. He is human and he will have problems with his voice at times.Hell I do even with I sing.Sometimes I can hit the note and other times sound like a mule..lol
We have no right to judge him like this. How would you feel,if he was judging you?
Just drop this already..
You have a problem with his voice then keep it to yourself..PERIOD..
You still love his voice..More power to ya..Period...
Again drop this and move on..PERIOD!
