Sarah Palin is proud of her hometown, as anyone should be... But as she makes it out to be an amazing place that she gained experience from by being mayor, why don't we take a look at what Wiki has to say about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasilla,_Alaska

As of the census of 2000.[4] there were 5,469 people, 1,979 households, and 1,361 families residing in the city. The population density was 466.8 people per square mile (180.2/kmē). There were 2,119 housing units at an average density of 180.9/sq mi (69.8/kmē). The racial makeup of the city was 85.46% White, 0.59% Black or African American, 5.25% Native American, 1.32% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 1.32% from other races, and 5.94% from two or more races. 3.68% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

There were 1,979 households out of which 43.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were married couples living together, 13.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 23.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.27.

In the city the population was spread out with 33.6% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 6.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $48,226, and the median income for a family was $53,792. Males had a median income of $41,332 versus $29,119 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,127. About 5.7% of families and 9.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.6% of those under the age of 18 and 9.7% of those 65 and older.

Of the handful of famous people from Wasilla there is a porn star and a convicted legislator (no, not Palin):

Chad Carpenter, cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Tundra, which is self-syndicated to over 200 newspapers within the United States and, since 2007, has been syndicated internationally by King Features Syndicate.
April Flowers, female porn star and adult model, grew up in Wasilla.
Lyda Green, President of the Alaska Senate
Vic Kohring, a Wasilla legislator who was tried in the wide-ranging federal VECO corruption probe, and found guilty of bribery, conspiracy, and attempted extortion.

A review from Frommers:

Charles Wohlforth, in a Frommer's travel guidebook on Alaska, described Wasilla as "the worst kind of suburban sprawl of highway-fronting shopping malls and gravel lots".

Sounds like a place that needs a lot of leadership, and that leadership has done well to help.

And everybody knows how reliable WIKI really is!!!!!!! I can't even use it as a resource in college....ROFL.

Let's not forget...she is a governor of a state. So actually Obama was wrong when he compared her experience to his....ROFL.

It's Census data that happened to be cited in Wiki. Are you claiming that they falsely reported the Census data? If so, please back up your claim by specifying which data elements don't mesh with those found on the Census Bureau's web site: http:factfinder.census.gov.

Why do you do that? Are you literally rolling on the floor laughing or is that a nervous tic of some kind? You seem to laugh at really inappropriate moments and for inexplicable reasons.

If you want, but it wouldn't matter to the arguement as Obama wasn't an executive there... That's the issue.

My point had been, and continues to be, being a mayor of a small town does not make one all of a sudden full of executive experience. Especially a town which seemingly is a desolate place, with a demographic situation I wouldn't necessarily call stellar. Wasilla seems like someplace one is proud of if you are from there... I can't see the rest of America being proud to call it part of our nation, the way the Republicans suddenly are.

I still consider somebody who has more years of Washington experience a person more qualified.

So tell me Paul, and Nobama when you return... You actually consider her more experienced than Nixon was when he became vice president? After all, he had no executive experience... At least though he came out of law school, not out of beauty pagents.

And as for Wiki, yes. I do consider it a viable source. I can tell you as a fact some media organizations do as well. I certainly consider it better than worldbeliefnet, and those other sites you like to use as legitimate.

Here is another issue that i have, last night Palin made a comment that she had more executive experience than both Obama and Biden combined.

Seeing how Biden has been in the senate 10 years longer than McCain has, according to her statements, John McCain doesnt have as much executive experience as she does either.........she FAILED to mention that last night.

Oh, but Rudy had that covered. He commanded a military unit, so therefore he has "executive" experience.

According to that evil Wiki site, and I'm not reading all that carefully, it looks like he just commanded a trining squadron in Florida. A squadron tends to be three-to-five soldiers.

Well that makes him fit to be our commander in chief.
