The Obama campaign has seriously downsized its campaign appearances for today in recognition of Hurricane Ike, most notably canceling the nominee's scheduled appearance on Saturday Night Live. Obama held a campaign event this morning in Manchester, New Hampshire, but Joe Biden did not also appear as originally intended.

Good! I think it would be a huge mistake for him to appear on SNL! The man is not funny, and during this sorrowful time with Ike, nobody wants to see the future president on SNL trying to crack a stupid joke and get a few laughs.

How do you know he isnt funny?
I think its kind of odd that everything else in the world has to halt because there is a hurricane. But I guess its the best political move he can make at the moment.

I've never seen him be funny yet. And many politicians are not funny at all. And SNL has a horrible way of making people not funny, even funny people. But, SNL has had its moments, so I guess I should give him the benefit of the doubt, but I really dont care either way, Im just glad he canceled.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him reschedule. But when so many people are experiencing a crisis of Ike's proportions, it's not really appropriate for a presidential candidate to be making light of things.
And anyone who doesn't think politicians are funny hasn't listened to W try to talk. :p

Did you see Obama and Hillary's previous appearances on SNL? They held up pretty well, and they weren't really telling jokes.

I was going to say this.
They don't put them on the show to make everyone laugh.

Of course, we'll probably see Palin on SNL tonight. Or at least her TV twin Tina Fey as Palin if she can get the Edie McClurg voice down.

I think Obama probably is funny. He definitely has a sense of humor. The way he laughed at the response to the pig line, and brushed it off as the stupidity it was.
