lol T.O.B is right in that other thread. Posting topics for morale.
It's funny how when every time a new Britney video comes out, or a new Britney anything comes out, some people are ready to pounce, and call he all sorts of things. I love how she's banned, yet it's just fine to post semi-topics of her, and then everyone bashes her. Talk about a threatened mess.
lmao at you people coming here, and saying Christina did it better. She looked like a mess. At least we can see Britney's face. Funny how many threads are mentioning Britney now over there.

Britney should have picked a different theme for this album. She is just asking to be compared to and accused of ripping off B2B and Christina. That's obvious, and there is no denying that.
But....I really feel that Britney's team see that stirring up comparisons between the two and trying to further the decade long rivalry between the fan bases will only generate more publicity, which is why I could see them pushing this.
And I honestly don't see Britney having come up with the Circus concept on her own. I'd be willing to believe that someone else who works for her did, and she is going along with it at the urging of her management.
Britney, when at her "best," really didn't have much say so in her career, she was mainly Larry Rudolph's puppet. A smiling robot who giggled and laughed on cue, and followed strict orders from her management on what to say and what not to say during interviews, and who was coerced into pushing a fake image of herself to the public (the whole virginity thing, etc).
She needs this comeback badly. It will make or break her ability to ever be a bankable star ever again. I just hope that this time she doesn't allow her managment to over-control her and strip her of all of her creative rights. Because I think that is what LEAD to her destructive, rebellious behavior in the first place.

To be honest I don't think anyone is really aware of Christina's circus theme other than her own fans. Most people identify the old Hollywood Glam theme with the B2B era, not the circus.
And Britney actually went to see a circus show a couple months back:

LOVE is the latest Cirque du Soleil production which celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles. Drawn from the poetry of the lyrics, LOVE explores the content of the songs in a series of scenes inhabited by real and imaginary people. The international cast of 60 channels a raw, youthful energy underscored by aerial performance, extreme sports and urban, freestyle dance.
So I'm pretty sure she had some say in it.

Btw it's so hilarious to me how people act like they have the scoop on Britney's life and career. Newsflash: You are not in her inside circle and those that ARE have always said that she's smart and not the puppet she's made out to be. So stop trying to undermine her all the time like she's incapable of making a decision herself. You don't know her.

Exactly what I was going to say. The media, the public and the world are not comparing Britney to Christina. The only people comparing Britney to Christina are the fans I've talked to on this board. And I believe they're doing so to generate attention towards Christina. How ironic, eh? LOL
Delusional much? lol

I could understand if she was rocking a permanent Baby Jane look with short, curly blonde hair and red lips. That would be a blatant rip-off. But this? Hate to break it to ya but the world does not revolve around Christina. She was not the first to be inspired by the circus and she definitely won't be the last.

Not only that but most people don't even know she did a circus theme for her tour. lol To say that Britney went with a circus theme so she could be compared to Christina is ridiculously hilarious..Britney gains nothing from being compared to Christina.
Hell, it would be more accurate to say that Christina started making electronic pop music so she could relive the Britney comparisons.

Looks nice, but I don't agree with you Ravane... Hurt was such a big hit here in Europe, and I know everyone in my circle and obviously out of my circle associates Christina with circus during the last era. But I understand where you come from, circus is a very broad term...

I live in the US and it wasn't a hit here.
Perhaps its a regional thing. In the USA, aside from Madonna/Janet/Elvis/Michael Jackson, Britney is hardly ever compared to her peers whereas her peers are always compared to her.
Maybe you can direct me to some news articles, popular blogsites, or general music forums that are comparing Britneys "Circus" to anything done by Christina, because I haven't seen this happening at all.
I'm starting to believe the Christina fans on this forum are completely delusional or most don't live in America.( which could explain alot)

I just don't think Christina's circus theme made a big enough impact to accuse anyone else of copying her. Leather chaps and the Dirrty hair from the Stripped era yeah, the Baby Jane look from B2B yeah. Those are trademark things for her. Not the circus.
totodyal
Oct 12th, 2008, 03:31 PM
yea, but even then I don't think people outside of her fanbase would associate those things with her. The only image I use to associate with her was the multi-colored hair that she had back in 1999.

BITCHES.PLEASE.
Christina's ass did not invent the Circus. The only thing people remember from the Hurt video is her sad ass acting and that arm that she kept glued to her forehead trying to act like Dorothy when she landed in Oz. Since y'all want to compare them so much, Britney has an actual reason for this album being called "Circus" unlike Christina who tried to use it as a cheap gimmick.
Some of y'all are always claiming how you don't give a damn about Britney and what she does, yet you take every opportunity to come to her own forum and throw cleverly disguised shade @ her whenever you can. Seems like you're eating a plateful of mad with a side of jealousy. Some of us like both of them and don't give a **** about you feeling threatened so please grab your bottle of Haterade and migrate.

CosmoGirl entertainment editor Rachel Chang gives us her take on "Womanizer"
The lights dim, the crowd screams, and spotlights circle the arena. Suddenly, Britney Spears appears out of nowhere, swinging from a trapeze, as circus performers take the stage to the first few beats from “Womanizer.”
But before I hype myself anymore for a concert tour that doesn’t yet exist, can we just talk about how perfect the album title Circus is? It’s as if all anyone has done over the last few years is try to bring Britney down. Well, I say good for her for getting back on track and cleverly admitting that she’s aware of her three-ring-circus-like life. It’s just the nature of the beast...

LOL. Tell that to Heavenwaits. I think he is by far the most guilty of this.
And Britney herself has insinuated that she was rebelling from the strict orders of her managment...heck, her own MOTHER even says that Britney was overly guided and controlled in her early to mid-career and that her daughter rebelled as a result in her recent memoir. Lynn even said that Britney continued her rebellion from her late teens through to as recently as her shaving her head. Even further, Lynn outright says that Britney was "furious" at having been urged to attend rehab the first time because her managment stepped in to do damage control as a result of the head-shaving. Britney herself even hinted to paparazzo that she did not agree with attending rehab the first time.
So don't try and act as though Britney has had full-throttle control over her career from Day One. She has always been heavily influenced and guided by her management. The years in which she went without this guidance, she crumbled in front of everyone's eyes.

Someone as young as Britney was, alone in the business needs advice and guidance from people around here. That's not to say they have to force her to do anything she doesn't want to do but a 17 year-old needs guidelines. There is no way she can be left on her own totally. I understand her rebelling when she was a little bit older, around the Britney, In the Zone era but everything that came after that has nothing to do with her rebelling from authority. It was her mental unstability kicking in full force. She was hurting herself and her loved ones in the process and it was no one's fault but her. There was a point when family and friends just wanted to love her and care about her and she kept pushing them aside, mistaking love for authority. Needless to say, she was quite wrong with her her conception of things and not mature enough to be left on her own she she had to be put on guard again to be saved from autodestructing herself.
Point blank. We've all been teenagers and no one at that age likes authority, pop star or not. We all rebel at times against it but at one point in your life you learn to focus that instint and just mature. Britney didn't and that why she is geting treated. She will be OK but she needs to listen up and take it easy until she can be that independent person she wants to be.

She didn't even come up with the title for Blackout, Jive did if I remember correctly, and Britney supposedly "hated" it, and the album art for the album.
©!nful
Oct 13th, 2008, 01:18 PM
Duh? Britney was completely unmotivated throughout the whole Blackout era. You can tell by the lack of effort in her videos, photoshoots, performance, etc... Jive basically carried that era by themselves because they knew Britney's heart was not in it. And you saw how successful that turned out to be compared to the times when she actually gave a damn.
Pre-Blackout, when Britney was career motivated, she always had input into her videos, photoshoots, etc... I'm not saying she came up with everything herself, but she still took an active role in what she was doing. It's not as simple as her being fed a bunch of ideas, smiling happily and getting on with it, which is basically what you're trying to make out.
For example, she was the one who came up with the original concept for the Oops I Did It Again video. And when they were coming up with songs for the ITZ era she was offered a track by RedZone that her management loved. She hated the song, rejected it and together they came up with Me Against The Music.

KERI HILSON TALKS ABOUT BRITNEY (Rap -Up TV):
The R&B star, who penned "Gimme More" for Britney has reunited with her to work on the 26-year-old's upcoming album, a process she dubs "refreshing."
"I got to step outside of what I normally do," Keri tells Rap-Up TV "I'm not normally this huge pop writer...and Britney, she's special. I can’t say that she’s guarded, but I understand why she doesn’t want to talk about certain things and I respect that about her."
In the studio, the hitmaking duo has never run into any problems as Britney is "a pleasure to work with." You won't find any diva behavior in there
"[She] never mouth[s] off," the 25-year-old says. "She's a very, very sweet person, takes direction very well."
What's important to know about the Britster is that she is not a "puppet" strung along and directed by label higher-ups, Keri says.
"She really isn’t the puppet that people make her out to be," she adds. "She has an opinion and she’s a very, very bright girl."
Keri, who's putting the finishing touches on her own album, In a Perfect World, also has some words for her colleague's critics.
"Right now she's dealing with life," she says. "She's just dealing with life. Leave that girl alone."

The Age reports GaGa’s star is undoubtedly on the rise; she was recently invited to contribute to the new Britney Spears record, Circus, due out in early December.
“I’m lucky she’s gravitating towards my style. I’m not Dream. I didn’t write Umbrella. I’ve been in the underground for a long time. I’m an up-and-coming electro-pop artist fairly unknown in the US. But people underestimate Britney. She has more to do with her success than people expect.”
I could go on, but I won't. :music:

Keri Hilson kinda seems two-faced. In the recent Rolling Stone Britney Spears expose titled "Inside an American Tragedy" Hilson was interviewed and made Britney out to seem unreliable with a less than stellar work ethic, and she said that Britney would get up leave right in the middle of recording sessions and that Nate Hills and Hilson would have no clue where she went. :noway:

After rehab, Britney was deeply angry and cut out every person in her life who had argued for it — her parents, Federline, Rudolph, even old best friends. She claimed not to have a drug problem, and stopped returning calls to her disloyal subjects, changing her phone numbers. "She was queen of the ghost moves," says singer Keri Hilson, who did backup vocals and co-wrote "Gimme More." "She'd be in the booth one second and then security would come get her, and we wouldn't know she was gone."
Thats not being two-faced. She's being honest. Britney was going through a lot at time and its good to know that Keri didn't let that period to dismiss who Britney was a person and artist. :p
