I totally see why she's promoting overseas first now, there's a lot less pressure that way and it gives her time to perfect her performances before she touches the US.
There better be some hot choreography for Circus though. No strut around the stage stuff, just hardcore dancing.

But there are clips of her rehearsing proper dance routines, so I'm not sure why she didn't do one this time. Oh well. She has another performance on Star Academy tomorrow and then on X Factor on Saturday. And then GMA on Tuesday. :sunny:

She´s improving. She only needs her old confidence back. We saw her dancing in the mannequin clip and she was fantastic. She just needs to lose the fear in the stage, and performing overseas is the way to do it. Step by step her attitude is coming back. that way when she hits the US she can perform circus and dance her as off.
One great thing : She finished the performance SMILING. She looks HOT also.

wonder what people were expecting.
For her first performance since the VMAs debacle of 2007, can we even imagine how horribly nervous she must have been? To try and stage something involving full-on live vocals or extraordinary choreography would have been just too risky. Yes, she's Britney, she's responsible for some of the most amazing live performances I've ever seen , but she hasn't been a proper popstar for years. Years. She has been a very ill woman, going through some awful things that many people could barely get through the other side of with their health, let alone being able to pull off some earth-shattering performance that she apparently owes the world.
Baby steps are they key here, and I think she did a fantastic job. I wasn't blown away, but I was impressed and I think she did genuinely look like she was enjoying herself again, which is the foundation of her getting her career back on track.

Stop carrying on. What does that AMAS have anything to do with a completely different performance, anyway?

Stop carrying on. What does that AMAS have anything to do with a completely different performance, anyway?
And the other poster said later that they like Britney and enjoyed certain aspects of the performance, so you don't have to talk like that to him/her.
To come in here and say "This wasn't great but did you see Christina get a standing ovation!" is stupid. Defend it all you want, it's stupid.

Why is it that when I try to be kind and diplomatic, it's shoved back in my face? Why? I enjoy two artists for different reasons and do my best to be respectful to "exclusive" fans, but some people are incapable of showing respect themselves. What a waste of my time.

Im glad to see things are looking up for her. No it wasnt a legendary performance, but goodness it was much better than the mtv music awards! She had the stage presence in this performance, she just needed better choreography.
The only thing I really did not like was one dance move she did where she takes her left leg and kind of wraps it around the guy and he holds in for a second....maybe I can take a screen shot. But anyways, she did that exact same move in the GM performance and basically anything that reminds me of the GM performance makes me want to cringe.
Also, I was thinking Madonna the whole time about the outfit...maybe if she changed the color of it.

There was something missing, and I really do think it is just confidence, she's just missing some attack or flow, or the simple presence that used to make me sit up and go Whoa!, and I really do hope that she finds it again.
She looked absolutely stunning though and I did enjoy the performance. Maybe she just needs to match the spectacle of it. I don't know, I really liked it and thought it was good, but something wasn't there. Maybe just expecting too much??
I don't like the choreography for Womanizer, and havent since I saw it on the video, it doesn't allow her to show off. That's probably a factor. Plus some of the moves she does when she like freelances over the stage remind me quite a lot of GM VMA's.

People need to get used to the fact Britney is maturing into a performance artist, and is not always going to be doing some big intense group dance sequence for every song on stage.
Some songs need more theatrics and atmosphere.
I thought the stage, the look, the theme, the remix, just everything was amazing, and adult.
What cracks me up is how hard everyone is on Britney.
Rihanna can come out and stomp around like a zombie and people in the media call it "brilliant."
Same with Beyonce'.
Now, Beyonce' can dance and perform live, but her moves are still not in the same league as Britney. Beyonce' just stomps and swings her hair and hips..for this she gets a standing O.
Not to hate on Beyonce' or RiRi, I just find it amusing how so very hard people are on Britney, and NEVER want to give her any credit.

Thats true, but Britney gets her recognition. lol People give her stand ovations and are always singing her praise. Britney is recognized for her performances at every award show she attends. But maybe it is good for people to be equally hard on her- assuming they're not just hating just because shes Britney Spears ; like some LD posters do.

If that "Gimme More" VMA performance added with all of 2007-2008 wasn't enough to end her career, then I think the only thing Britney has to worry about is making good music- like she is and has always done.
And even if the music sucks, Britneys career can not end. As you said, her fame is too high and she has created her own legacy so people will always tune in to see if they like what she's currently doing. There is forever interest in her music.
Britney is todays pop legend. She has created an unforgettable legacy just like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey did in the 90s. Even if those artists have screwed up and are no longer able to perform as they did 'back then', the world still listens to see if they like their new music.
Britney is now of them.
I know its hard to grasp because the rest of her peers have clearly not reached this level yet. It just means they're slow. Britney has been famous for over 10years- which is the same amount of time it took for the other legends to become who they are today.

Britney's performance was certainly not nearly as bad as VMA '07. That was an absolute mess. This performance at the Bambi Awards was better, a lot better, she seemed more into it, she seemed happier, she sang live in some parts. You know, if Britney had gone away quietly to have a family like she intended to in 2005, she would not have maintained the notoriety and fame that then contributed to the underdog standing, comeback buzz, and hype that she currently has. She has become a pop icon, but at a rather high price IMO. Whether or not she lives up to peoples' expectations, surpasses them, or fails is up to her, and will determine the next direction her role as icon will take.

Some of you guys are acting like Britney owes us a spectacular performance. Living up to expectations is not what she owes her fans. The music is what she gives us for supporting her. I know it's dissapointing when it doesn't meet the same criteria a good Brit performance used to entail, but she doesn't have to blow people away. She's just getting back into it. Give it a rest and I'm sure she'll bring it by time her tour rolls around. If she doesn't bring it, then so be it. She's putting on good performances and sticking to her themes...there's nothing terrible about it. She's doing well and out promoting. I'm not giving her pity, I'm just supporting by stating facts.

The performance wasn't bad...it runs circles around VMA's 2007, no doubt about it. However... I really wish she wouldn't have ripped off the whole circus theme, she's asking for comparisons to her old teenage rival. What was her managment thinking? If it weren't for the intro to Womanizer playing and Britney walking out onstage, I'd think I was watching Back to Basics tour clips if no one had told me otherwise.
Not trying to start an argument, just saying. In the past she's usually prided herself on her creative tour and performance productions and pyrotechnics. Just wondering aloud what happened and why they didn't think outside the box this time around?

The only people who are saying things of this nature are Christina Aguilera fans who saw her concert. Her whole tour wasn't even about a circus. It was only part of it. I mean Janet did that, Madonna as well and with theirs, it was only part of their concerts as well. If you ask a regular person about this they're not going to know anything about the Christina comparisons. I fail to understand how people don't get this.

The Dancing was downright embarassing from her, Christina's VMA choregraphy looks like some Ciara sh*t compared to what Britney did.
She looked mentally stable but still unenthused and uninterested.
Her dancers were ok and the golden cage had a very nice sheen.

if christina walked with a snake around her neck No, that's extremely different. That's one of Britney's signatures, and Christina would be a mimicking slutbag if she did that.

People are just harsh because it's her. Sure, she didn't dance, but this wasn't bad. Gtfo. Rihanna just walks around while sounding like she has a cold.
Womanizer is not a heavy choreographed performance, just as there were songs pre-breakdown that weren't. Not every song is a dance fest.
Circus will be, Womanizer will not be. You're a mess.
And Christina's dancing on the VMA was disgusting. She just wipes her knee and moves her shoulders in a stiff manner over and over again. That choreography is hideous, and if Britney did that i would laugh my ass off. There's a difference between no choreography and bad choreography. This is something you do not understand.

Britney's whole cd is based around a Circus
It's actually not. Have you heard it? The title track has to do with a circus....nothing else on the cd has to do with that theme.

Even Christina's lipped "Welcome" performances sh*t all over this performance.
The performance wasn't bad, I'll give you that. But if you're not going to sing live, move your ass!
Christina's was fierce, unlike this performance, so don't go there. I never thought I would say this, but even the latest Christina lipping and dancing has put Britney's latest to shame.
And as for her comeback, it's pretty much a comeback for her clean image, cause Blackout pretty much PWNS every song this era and the Womanizer song/video wasn't that great.
I am really trying to pull up for this girl, but with all these sh*tty performances, it really disappoints. I'm hoping the American promo shakes up a bit.

So you mean her single has to do with a Circus, and they're just using that imagery because it's the most striking one they could and coincides with the single. It's no different than other "recycling" other artists have done or been accused of. That's all anyone is saying.

Did i say it was original? No. I said it was nothing like Christina's. It is the same theme, but thats all i see.

but why is that ok? it wouldnt be ok if it were the other way around. if christina walked with a snake around her neck or had animals in cages, i can only imagine what would be said LMAO.
a circus theme is a circus theme. the only reason why i even mention it is because im so sick of christina always being accused of copying this or that. dont you understand that if christinas new theme was a circus in 2009 sh it would hit the fan?

I agree 100% with Kerry. And to PieceofBrit...Britney walked onstage with a snake ONCE. Christina planned an entire tour and a music video around the circus theme.
What makes Britney's isolated snake performance her "signature" and Christina's circus themed B2B tour and Hurt video concept not a Christina "signature".??? LMAO

LMAO :laugh:It doesn't matter if Britney + snake was just one occasion, it was powerful enough that it became one of her world renowned signature performances and looks, just like her 2000 VMA performance. Christina's circus theme was A) only put into a video and part of a tour, and B) is not not a signature of hers beyond a delusional section of her fanbase and is not world renowned. Deal.
