On Saturday, January 10, 2009, a large rally and march took place in San Francisco to protest Israel's invasion of Gaza. The event was one of a series of similar events held in various cities around the country on the same day, and was organized by ANSWER along with several other far-left, Arab and Muslim groups.

The photos in this report represent what I personally saw that day in San Francisco. Because there were thousands of people in attendance, with innumerable signs, vignettes and scenes playing out every minute in many different locations, I can vouch only for what I myself witnessed...

This is America and San Francisco. This arabs and American Hamas supporters "peacful" demostration. What most disgusting that among of the people who saying: " "SMASH the Jewish State. Every Zionazi Is a Legitimate Military Target, Target All Zionist Businesses"
are supporters who in reality are Jewish. It's not just surreal, but horrible. Jewish people whant other Jewish people dead? Nice Americans. From what kind of mothers they where born to this world, if the want to kill their own people? What they think when Muslims would be killing Jews or Targeting their businesses they would kill some of them and not kill their supporters? Total BS.
Shame on America's Hamas supporters, who want us dead. We will not give you this opportunity. At least as long as we have our country. And we didn't give a a flipping fly about cowards, who covers their faces and ugly monsters Jews, who want Israel to die. But Jewish people in America should remember. They are in America and they are much closer to Muslims with covered faces, than people from Israel and they would be a easier target. Don't forget what going around, coming around. And your stupid poster of Hamas supporter will not save yours or your family life. What goes around come around.

Anti-Semitic tone of some Gaza protests worries Jewish leaders

As local streets fill with protesters condemning Israel’s Gaza incursion, some in the Bay Area Jewish community fear the level of anti-Israel vitriol has crossed the line into anti-Semitism.

“It’s like nothing we’ve seen since the Second Lebanon War in 2006,” said Michael Harris with San Francisco Voice for Israel.

Harris claimed Arabic-speaking S.F. Voice for Israel counterprotesters heard people chanting in Arabic “Death to the Jews,” “Slaughter the Jews” and “Palestine is our land, and the Jews are our dogs” at recent local anti-Israel marches.

A Jan. 5 press release from the Anti-Defamation League cited examples of anti-Semitism from other demonstrations around the country, including a protester’s sign in New York reading “Israel: the Fourth Reich,” and another in Tampa, Fla., that read “Zionism is a cancer: Radiate it.”

“I would agree the messaging coming out of these protests has elevated to a level that is more threatening,” said Jonathan Bernstein, the Anti-Defamation League’s regional director. “We’ve gotten calls from area synagogues, not about any specific incidents, but they’re interested in additional advice to enhance their security.”

Groups like S.F. Voice for Israel have mounted counterprotests at several anti-Israel rallies; more than 100 Israel supporters showed up for a downtown San Francisco march Jan. 2. Harris said pro-Israel counterprotests will take place over the coming weeks in Berkeley, Oakland and at a large-scale San Francisco march sponsored by International ANSWER on Saturday, Jan. 10.

“If they’re going to be setting up at Civic Center, then we will be there,” added Harris. “We fully expect our rights of free speech and free assembly will be upheld by the San Francisco Police Department.”

British anti-semitism roundup
The JC lists them, as of last Thursday:

A young Orthodox man was viciously beaten after last Wednesday’s pro-Israel rally in what is perhaps the most serious incident.
Daniel Lowe, from Hendon, a bearded Orthodox Jew who wears a kippah, was a founding member of MuJewz, the Muslim-Jewish dialogue group at Oxford University. He had attended last Wednesday night’s pro-Israel rally in Kensington and was on his way to visit friends nearby afterwards when he was attacked.

He said: “As I was about to knock on their door, someone behind me said hello.” He turned to find two men of Asian appearance, one wearing a Palestinian flag on his jacket, the other wearing a keffiyeh. “They asked me where I had been. When I told them it was none of their business, they punched me in the head, pushed me to the ground and kicked me.”

Mr Lowe said the attack made him even more determined to attend Sunday’s Trafalgar Square event: “Jews shouldn’t be attacked for expressing their views in public.”

On Tuesday, a gang of Palestinian supporters forced their way into the offices in central London of the Israel lobbying organisation Bicom after a man called saying he was delivering a parcel.

Eight men and women — one armed with a loudhailer — shouted at and intimidated staff, ripped out computer cables, cut telephone lines and threw leaflets out of the windows.

One staff member said: “They were very aggressive, and asked whether we were Jewish and why we were supporting Israel. It was very frightening.”

It is understood that detectives at Westminster are investigating the criminal damage and viewing CCTV footage of the incident.

Bicom chief executive Lorna Fitzsimons said: “The vandalism and thuggery at our offices and against my staff this morning was utterly reprehensible. Bicom is a pro-peace organisation that promotes understanding and dialogue, often promoting moderate Palestinian voices for the sake of a speedy and peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East.”

Both Marks & Spencer and John Lewis contacted suppliers this week to ask whether goods they stocked originated from Israel.

But both companies insisted that they were regular routine calls and that the timing was coincidental.

Gaza has turned into the excuse that hundreds of Jew-haters were looking for to express their hate.

As one of the commenters at Harry's Place wrote:

Old school antisemitism = Jews are a fundamentally Middle-eastern people who don’t belong in Europe. If they won’t understand this, we’ll just have to teach them the hard way.

New antisemitism = Jews are a fundamentally European people who don’t belong in the Middle-East. If they won’t understand this, them over there will just have to teach them the hard way. And oh what the hell, let’s have a go at them here too.

You can’t stop progress.
