You go to their profile and above their follow list is an option that says direct message. However, if the person has their account set up that only people they're following can message them, you won't be able to. Not unless they're following you.

My sister and I just called him twice. The first time he hung up and so we called him back to ask him why. ]He said something about how he was trying to get to other fans..so we said we'd let him go and he insisted that we keep talking to him. :love:

I agree with you about him having the right to do what he wants. I guess a lot of us just really wanna see him take some action. I worry that his wreckless actions can lead him to trouble...well, more than it already has. I just wanna see him making music again. He's got a lot of talent to reveal to the world.

Okay, so the board is pretty silent at the moment. I'm drugged from the painkillers the nurse gave me, so bear with me a little. This is a good time to post this. Earlier tonight, PNutz posted in another thread about his thoughts toward Aaron's new strategy of reaching out to fans. He felt it needed to be expressed in a more formal manner. Naturally, with my ability to be creative with words, I stepped up to the plate. It's nothing new in this forum to hear of negative and frustrated talk about Aaron. Ideally, he's not doing what he should be doing, but there are times when he shows us that there is still hope for him. These are the moments that we should all step back, soak in what we see, and remind ourselves why exactly we care the way we do.

Now, look at it this way. Aaron's a social butterfly and enjoys the company of people. We also know he loves his fans and despite his latest incidents, he's a good person. I know it's hard to know when to be skeptical and when to lay off. What appears to be a crazy act of attention seeking could turn into a very, very good thing.

Look at it this way, the type of people he's been exposed to lately are definitely not good for him. They're fake and putting ideas into his head that aren't realistic. Aaron's obviously easily influenced by his surroundings. If he's around certain people long enough, he'll start to pick up traits and habits that those people also have. Having fans call him is a way to have real people connect into his life. Set aside the negativity for just a second and look at the positive. Don't think about the "OMG it's Aaron Carter" reactions. Think about the real fans. The ones who are truly grateful to hear from him. The ones who want to connect with him on a healthy level. This gives his a change of environment. He's having a one on one conversation with people that isn't offering him substance or dragging him to places he shouldn't be. It's giving him a chance to understand and see that people out there still love and care about him.

It's very apparent that he's not willing to listen to those close to him, for reasons that we as fans could never understand. However, setting negativity aside, this connection to fans could very well snap him into reality that he has the talent to continue with his music the right way. He can't change the past, but he can learn from the mistakes he has made. Take my conversation with him, for example. He was very calm, polite, and eager to keep the conversation going. Why was this? Well, I spoke to him like a human being. If you treat someone like him as a regular person, you're going to get just that...a regular person. He didn't talk to me in ghetto slang or use funny voices to make me laugh. This was a real conversation. Something that made me see that there's hope for him yet. If you don't encourage the crazy antics, you're not likely to receive the crazy antics. This is the kind of interaction he needs. Not that fake stuff that people have been pulling on him.

Sure there will always be girls screaming his name, people sucking up to him, and even pranksters who make him the butt of their jokes. This is the reality of the world. However...they're just voices on the phone. Get it? Absolute control. He can hang up, block the number, and forget it even happened. It's much better than seeing him wander into a club with girls rubbing up on him, guys kissing his ass, and money hungry jerks trying to use him. At least if he's sitting at home on the phone, it would keep him occupied. I think the primary goal at this point is to get him off the streets and doing something constructive. I mean, come on, he sat at the phone for hours talking to fans. That's saying a LOT. He could've blown off the whole thing after an hour and hit the clubs. But he didn't, did he? Baby steps, folks. If he slowly makes his way into a healthy life, the more likely it'll stick. You can't rush these things. Not even rehab is a quick fix. Twelve steps, twelve weeks, 84 days. That's just the recovery process. That's not counting the process when you apply what you learned to the real world. One tiny step at a time and he'll be on his way to a better life. To get rid of one addiction, you must replace it with another. Maybe his fans can be a substitute for an addiction. Apply that to his music career and we're looking at much smoother path for him to follow.

Now, there is the issue of privacy when it comes to communicating with fans like this. He would need another phone for business and personal use. The number he gave out can be for fans to call him any time they want. He can adjust it to fit his schedule, which is another good factor of control. This way he can handle his business and personal stuff on one phone and chat with a fan from Russia on the other. The possibilities are endless, but once again...it puts him in control.

So, don't close those doors on his just yet. Yeah, the idea of giving out a cell phone number is a bit extreme. I was one of the first people to think, "Has he lost his mind?!" I was sure it would be a complete bust, but he impressed me with how long he stuck with it. It's okay to have your guard up. It's completely natural after all we've been through with him. Just don't ever lose sight of why we're here in the first place. He needs our love and support. Leave the tough love for the ones who are directly involved. We work as a team. We give them something to feed off of, they can't lose hope that he can turn himself around. We all walk away from him...that will be when we have failed HIM not because he failed US. We're the reason his career took off in the first place. He did it once, he can do it again. So...in the cliche' of his own words, "LET'S GOOOOOO!" :D

Firstly it's v interesting about those tweets catching AC's account out during the whole nashville time thing but honestly the moment Aaron's account said "more overprotective THEN my parents" i knew..
even with all the caps etc etc and shorthand i do not believe that Aar would mispell a word. I don't know why, i can't remember if i've seen proof but to me Ac is someone who has always been good with grammar and spelling bar shorthand etc

Secondly....this whole situation wit DeNiro has made everyone way too presumptious and hegative. I was saddened to see people being so negative about him giving out his number and can say it speaks volumes for the certain few that still feel that way.

I am not seeing as a cry for attention or "publicity stunt". He is smart connecting with his fans to help get his records sell, YES but you know what? I feel naiive for saying this but this is why i love Aaron!!! I haven't spoken to him but seeing him and hearing him connect with his fans and how sweet he is melts my heart and you know why? Cos sometimes i feel that love from him more than i feel it from my family and friends and it gets me through life.

I think the reason i am drawn to both Aaron and the Backstreet Boys are because of the warmth they show their fans and i just feel so appreciated. I love Aaron! I love him as a being and his music wouldn't be as good as it is if he didn't show that through his songs.

I am not calling anyone a bad person or saying they are feeling the wrong way when i say i am saddened by the negativity. i was feeling like that a few days ago. i was being really sceptical and judging every move and i know we do this to stop ourselves from being hurt but i knew i had to snap out of it. I don't believe everything that is posted and i believe that there is nothing much Aaron can do about DeNiro's control BUT i will not allow this to deny me the happiness of seeing Aaron being himself and him being so sweet to his fans. I know there is more to it than Aaron just wanting to connect with fans. He's a smart guy and it will help sell records and get him going but never the less he earned some respect tonight.

See, that's what keeps me from wanting to call him. If I was sure I'd get through and be able to have a conversation with him -- not necessaraily as a fan, but as someone who cares about him like he's a friend -- I'd do it. I was considering calling tonight.
He seems to be taking this seriously, but I know my luck lol.

Rach is right, this does seem to have the potential to be something good for him.
The questions do still remain though, as to whether this really will prove to be good for him, and how long that positivity will last.
