my younger brother was never into bruce and i finally convinced him to go to a show. his first one just happened to be when he was at univ. of penn on dec 9 1980. well i think most of you would know how that show went! so after that, needless to say he was hooked. then he moved to china and got out of listening to western music. he came back to live in america within the last few years and has finally asked me to get him a copy of the cover album of the nebraska (his favorite) songs. even though i made a copy of this i was never that interested because with a couple of exceptions i was not into the people who recorded the songs. so i began thinking that i would have loved to have heard some of my favorite artists do bruce songs. i can hear van morrison doing new york city serenade TOTAL justice (though i can't imagine anyone doing it as well as bruce). so if you could do the bruce cover album of your dreams what cuts do you want on it and who do you want singing those songs?

OK, so this might sound like it's becoming a lovefest between me and Bronx D, but DAMN!...U2 and BACK IN YOUR ARMS...I can definitely hear Bono wrapping himself around that one...YOWZAH!...and we agree to disagree on LIGHT OF DAY...I've gotten as sick of it as you, but I still think Joe G and The HR's do a great job on it...but it could be deleted if push came to shove...HEY, QUIT PUSHIN'!!!...;)

Yo Werewolf...if Wilson Pickett can cover HEY JUDE, then The Who and The Alarm can cover JUNGLELAND...we're talkin' respect here, not irreverence..:) BTW, I like your choice of Neil Young for NEBRASKA...

this is just too tough. Right now I just can't picture anyone but Bruce doing his songs. maybe I've been working too hard!
And to reiterate NO covering Jungleland
But I can picture Bruce covering Baba O'Rielly.
And now I have one-Louie Armstrong doing E Street

i am so impressed. you all came up with such great answers and things i never would have thought of. i love the bob marley (one of my favorite artists of all time) doing cover me. i have never liked that song that much but i can absolutely see it as a reggae song done by him!
and paradise by the c as done by junior walker is perfect as is u2 doing back in your arms. AND I LOVE JOHN LENNON DOING LOHAD!!!!!!!

except now i have to re-think this and come up with some better answers. yours are all too good...

Shawn Colvin.

'Stolen Car.'

In a big fat lonly room.

All by herself.

On just an accoustic guitar.

It would be undeniably brillliant.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I Don't Know Why" & 'Monopoly' would convince anyone of these songs, & that Shawn can and should do a Bruce tune or two.
(Both from her Grammmy award winning record 'Fat City').
<<<so if you could do the bruce cover album of your dreams what cuts do you want on it and who do you want singing those songs?>>>
I love these questions. I don't have a full album, but here are a couple of songs...
Tom Waits, Lost in the Flood
Eddie Vedder, Walk Like a Man
Pearl Jam, Badlands
Public Enemy, Murder Inc.
Bono, No Surrender (but I love the Back in Your Arms suggestions :))
Al Green and Jill Scott, My City of Ruins
Would also have been cool to see The Ramones do Hungry Heart.
