View Full Version : Random Post-Midnight Thoughts
Short Chris
May 10th, 2001, 06:37 AM
Up late last night with some damn sick kid and had some of the following thoughts run through my mind. Feel free to discuss.
1 - Why wasn't someone posting after 9 PM EST? Shouldn't Garnet have been around? And you West Coast people, surely you can do better. ;)
2 - I watched part of an old X-Files episode. David Duchovny looked pretty much the same, but Gillian Anderson was quite the little pork chop back in the first few seasons.
3 - Eddie and the Cruisers was also on last night. Could the lead singer have been worse at lip-syncing? I'm not sure if he knew all of the words he was supposed to be singing.
4 - Speaking of Eddie and the Cruisers, the band doing the songs (not on screen) was actually The Beaver Brown Band from lovely little Rhode Island. Is it sad when the best band to ever come from your state is most famous for not being on screen in a lame movie?
5 - The Indiana school principal that took off with the 11 year old student... what the hell is up with that?
Thanks, I'll now proceed to nap for the rest of the morning.

My random thoughts... Does Shorty take notes of his random thoughts while up with sick tax deduction?
vester

Other random thoughts ...
1. So what happens to the West Coast people? If I've been forced to start threads, shouldn't they be forced to post after 3:00 p.m EST? Nikki, can you do something about this? ;)
2. I think Gillian Anderson was either pregnant or had just had a baby during the first episodes. That's the reason for the chubbiness. But I may just be talking out of my butt.
3. I always get Eddie and the Cruisers mixed up with the other Michael Pare movie, Streets of Fire. Both good Sunday afternoon, or late night movies. Am I completely off base here? Was the song "On The Dark Side" in Eddie and the Cruisers?
4. Today I saw a car with a silk flower arrangement in the back window. I don't believe they were just transporting said arrangement. I believe it was a fixed decoration in the car. Why would anyone do this?

My thoughts:
West Coasters are slackers and their behaviour (u for vester :D) is completely inadequate...I expect to see increased productivity or I'll be forced to terminate you. Take that in any way you wish :p
Poor tax deduction. Not poor X, but poor tax deduction.
Computers that have Diet Mountain Dew spilled on them tend to not work quite right after that and the techie geeks frown upon liquid so close to the computer. Shouldn't they make Dew proof computers since techies consume more caffeine than anyone?

Why are there so many different ports made to plug a mouse into the back of the computer?
Where can I buy stock in port adapters?

If you want to gross yourself out. Pick up your keyboard and give it a shake upside down just to see what falls out.
Yuck.
Thanks for adding the u Nikki! I wouldn't have understood the sentence otherwise. :D

No thanks. I wouldn't even touch the keyboard again if they weren't making me.
Now I have to pay to have the old computer fixed...*sigh* kick me while I'm down why don't you? :(

Why are they making red Mountain Dew now? Has anyone had the nerve to try it?
mikecheck
May 10th, 2001, 09:35 AM
Is the Red Mountain Dew creamy like a red cream soda? I don't know PB&Kev... but I'm willing to give it a try. Remember... Pepsi Clear(I forget)? I tried that and thought it was okay... it's like Pepsi One (new ideas). Anyhow...
Oh! Here's a thought... maybe they're marketing Red Mountain Dew because the Regular Mountain Dew isn't really safe... you know "Yellow #5"?! Or was that an urban legend?
Well... those are my thoughts. Now... time for breakfast at work over here on the West Side.:D

Ok, I'll respond for the West Coast:
The reason we don't post after 3:00pm PDT is because our power is out....
Now I'll go back to reading the rest of the thread...

May 10th, 2001, 09:39 AM
Maybe Mountain Dew should use our power crisis as an advertisement promotion for their new product.
"NEW... RED MOUNTAIN DEW! GOOD ENOUGH TO POWER CALIFORNIA!"
:D

Power outages? See, they are slackers. If they really wanted to post they'd rub balloons against their heads and use the static electricity to power their PCs. See, we East Coast people have to do all of the thinking in this place.

Eddie And The Cruisers is pure entertainment just like the evil dead series....Michael Pare might be mistaken for a relative of Jay Leno with that chin of his...
On the dark side is a part of the cruisers legend...

I really liked the Evil Dead series. Also Hellraiser.
Red Mountain Dew? Do we know if it's like Creme Soda? I used to love Creme Soda, now ... not so much.

Hellraiser is just a tour de force in terms of violence and gore...
Every line in the evil dead series is a punchline...

Malted milk balls are good. Especially when they come in the form of a blue/pink/yellow speckled bird egg.

Cali- Did you listen to Alice this morning? They read that "Love the Californians" e-mail on the air. Sarah and Vinnie were totally cracking up about about keeping the "wine so we can wallow in our sorrows" and the "want to see a movie? well, we've got blockbuster here".
I still get intrigued by Dirty Dancing. I'm so weak.

May 10th, 2001, 10:46 AM
BTW, California Rocks!

Ellen, I did hear Sarah and Vinnie talking about that e-mail!
Was Diane Lane in Eddie and the Cruisers?
Never mind...I was thinking of Streets of Fire...

Hey, that's cool! We're on the same station. Love those guys.
And you people out there. While it's 3 your time, it's lunch time here. So we West Coasters are OUT TO LUNCH. We don't complain at 9am when it's YOUR lunch time, do we?! :p

Ellen & Cali...
When is the best time to visit California? What time is not HOT HOT?
ellenmed
May 10th, 2001, 11:06 AM
Garnet- Come in December, January and February when it's cold, flooding and we're having mudslides.
Actually, May and October is the nicest time to visit.
Cali_1
May 10th, 2001, 11:07 AM
I would have said May however, it's been unusually hot this past week.
Late September, October is really nice... Are you heading out this way?!!

May 10th, 2001, 11:08 AM
Geez Ellen, you definitely don't work for the tourism board do you?
Yea, stay away from the hot months, power outages and all...
Oh, forgot about the earthquakes...those are usually in summer.

One of my favourite California songs is by 2Pac and Dr. Dre "California Love".
California...knows how to party
California...knows how to party
In the citaaay of L.A.
In the citaaay of good ol' Watts
In the citaaay, the city of Compton
We keep it rockin! We keep it rockin!
They even mention you Cali, you're famous!
Shake it shake it baby
Shake it shake it baby
Shake it shake it mama
Shake it Cali
Shake it shake it baby
Shake it shake it shake it shake it...

I've been on the front page of our local newspaper I'm so famous..but that's another story...
Ok Garnet, here's the skinny on LA...and I'm not being biased either... The city of LA itself is ugly..smoggy, dull (just ask Shorty)... The city of Hollywood is the same..
Beverly Hills is nice (since it's one of the richest places
around) as is Bel Air... If you're into total tourist action ; Mann's Chinese Theatre (with all the hand/footprints in cement), go for the Hollywood visit.
Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills is pretty cool.
Are you thinking about any amusement parks? There is Magic Mountain, Disneyland, and Knott's Berry Farm. There is also Universal Studios. Magic Mtn. is the farthest away, the other 3 are pretty close to each other, in Anaheim.
The really nice area's are San Diego, La Jolla and Coronado...They are further south, along the coast.

Don't have Cartoon Network (not even cable, yet) Vester... So it's been awhile since I've seen that episode with the Sheepdog and Mr. W.E. Coyote... but I sure feel the same way right now about work... punch-in punch-out. And lunch is just around the corner.

My favorite Cali song is by LL Cool J.
I'm going back to Cali, rising, surprising
Advising realizing, she's sizing me up
Her bikini - small; heels - tall
She said, she liked, the ocean
She showed me a beach, gave me a peach
and pulled out the suntan lotion
Now I thought that was fast, but this girl was faster
She's lookin for a real good time
I said, "Close your eyes, I got a surprise,"
and I ran away with the bottle of wine

ISOJ- Walk into their office, plop your lovely behind in their chair and ask "I'd like to become a member, please." It's that easy.
And you could do Chris' way too.

It's $57/year here. I just booked a hotel that's $239/night, but with an AAA membership it's $89/night. I have to show my AAA membership at the time of check-in to get that rate, so I figured I better actually get the membership.
Yes Sunny, this is our hotel for Milwaukee. Changed the car reservation too. I'm so on top of things I can hardly stand it.
