View Full Version : I'm a SURVIVOR! (In more ways than one)

I know I haven't been too active in the last 6 months or so, but I have been scanning the board pretty regularly.
Just wanted to let everyone that wished me well know that the chemo and radiation are FINALLY over and I now am considered cancer free. Although I am told that I was a survivor from the time I was diagnosed, I never considered myself one until treatment was completed and I was given a clean bill of health. Thanks to everyone who gave me so much encouragement!
Now for the second part about being a survivor. A local radio station KISS 102.5 is having a SURVIVAL WEEKEND. They are creating and island complete with sand and palm trees in a large parking lot. I submitted an application on Monday and was chosen to be one of the 20 contestants!! I have to report on Friday the 18th. First prize is at least $1000 which will be tucked away for Bruce's next tour!!
If any of you are interested in checking out the progress next weekend the site is 1025kissfm.com. Wish me luck please! And thanks again for all your help during the biggest fight of my life!! Deb

I'm currently readind a book called "It's Not About The Bike" by Lance Armstrong. He of coarse is a survivor also and went back to win the Tour de France. He is doing great now also from what I understand. The book is great even if you know nothing about bicycle racing. I would highly recommend it.
The best of luck in the survivor contest but most importantly with the rest of your life. :)

As long as you pinch the heads off of them before you eat 'em, they're relatively alright . . . they're definitely not my first choice for 'gourmet foods.'
Anyway, I knew it all along . . . ;) Deb, you kicked cancer's ass for you--now, go out there, be the last survivor, and . . . ! You can do it, kid!

Deb,
If they chocolate cover the bugs they're not too bad, at least that's what I've always been told.
I've been wondering how you have been doing and that is amazing news!
You are a survivor with or without the palm trees!
Way to go!

Deb,
Glad to see you back and to hear the great news about being cancer free. Congrats!
As for this survivor thing ... I think you should take some chocolate as a "luxury item" just in case you have to eat anything strange ... just dunk and voila.
Lot's of luck ... but most of all kick back and have a good time ... you deserve it.

What wonderful news! Your determination and courage are an inspiration.
Keep taking care & good luck on the "isalnd"; I hope you win, bugs or no bugs. And I sure hope for all of us that you can use the cash on a tour further on up the road (but not too much further!)

Thanks for the encouragement! You guys are always there to cheer on other members! Hopefully bugs will not be on the menu. It was announced last night that the prize money has been increased to $1500. And we are allowed only 3 hours of sleep a night! Remember you can check it out at 1025kissfm.com I will be the one with the GI Jane hairdo since I've done away with the wig!

Deb,
Congrats on your clean bill of health ! Wonderful news.
Yesterday I walked in the 11th annual Race for the Cure (Breast cancer foundation) ! Before the actual race they had a parade for all the survivors and their families. I admire each and every one of them for their courage.
Best of luck to you !
