Coming from another thread, does anyone who's been to a concert remember them coming on at 8:30 or whenever they were supposed to? For that matter have they ever been on time for any live appearance other than tv shows which have to be on the dot?

It seemed worse on the first leg of the B&B tour back in January and February. The 3 shows I saw, they weren't on time. I'm hoping with the long set Shaggy has this time, that the boys will be able to get onstage on time, cause they're gonna have a later start.

In the past 4 years that I've seen them, they've never been on time! :o

On March 1 they came on at 9 (it might have been later). The people behind me were complaining because it was a school night and their kids (who wouldn't stop pulling my hair) were falling asleep already. Don't bring your 2 year old kids to concerts then! :o
On March 2 I think they actually came out at 8:30.

LMAO
Good topic! :) I'd have to say never, the boys are always running on Backstreet Time. Can't blame them though, they're busy guys. But because I'm crazy I always picture the reason for them starting concerts late is because Nick doesn't wanna go onstage until he finishes his video game:o LOL.

And that brings up another question. Which one(s) is(are) doing this? We know it's not AJ because by his admission (and backed up by the others at various times) he's there first no matter what he looks like. I read somewhere that it was Kevin but that doesn't seem to fit with his Backstreet persona as the one who is usually the most anal about things is usually the one freaking when things run behind. Whatcha got?

i can see Nick throwing a strop or, as M said, wanting to play his video game and not allowing enough time to get ready after. thinking "i'll just sqeeze in make up in a minute" or him and Brian laughing and messing around.
KEVIN?? are you crazy?? lol, no. i don't think so. i think he'd be the "what the HELL do you think you're all playing at? this isn't a game so get you're DAMN act together now!"
i can see him getting reeeeeally pissed.
Howie. well it MIGHT be Howie with his vainess. wanting to look As Good As Possible, although he's bound to be sweaty and flustered as soon as he goes on stage.
AJ. oddly enough i imagined AJ as a bit of the main culprit along with Nick. it was ever since i read some piece of crap that, although SCREAMING lies imade me think. just this woman who he met and then she visited him just before the concert and well... they were cought up in the moent i guess *cough*
seriously? he's ALWAYS there?? well i guess i can believe that coz he IS a bit of a manic performer. (JNN when on a break etc)

I remember this story. There was an email going around about it and there was a very vehement denial of the story from the Backstreet camp. In fact, I remember the "slander" and "libel" words being thrown around. But all the same, I got the distinct impression that what upset the camp was not that AJ was with a stripper, but that he would be so unprofessional as to delay the start of a show because of "being caught up in the moment" with the stripper. So no, it couldn't possibly be AJ who's responsible for Backstreet time.:D

Hmm... I'm not sure who the culprit is.
Most likely Nick because I could see him holding everyone up and also because it's easy to blame lots of stuff on him! :D
Kevin? I would doubt that Kev would be the one holding things up. I could see him getting pissed and complaining about certain slow people though. He's a perfectionist so he would not be the one holding everyone else up. Besides can't you picture him going crazy when he couldnt make it to the Denver show (I think it was Denver) this year? hehehe :o

In LA two years ago, they were on an hour and 45 minutes late...Nick and AJ probably got in a fight again.

I'm telling you I'm thinking it IS Kevin because I thought it was so odd that he would be the one. I'll look for where I found it before.

I went 2 a concert in January and i remember they didnt come on until about 9:00. Krystal came on exactly at 7:30 and she was done i think close to 8. After she went offstage and the lights came back on,omg they were playin this elevator music! I was about to fall asleep!!http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/sleepy/snore.gif The annoying thing was after each song there was like this 5 second pause so of course everyone starts to scream and chant "Backstreet Boys! Backstreet Boys!" thinkin they're coming out..but no they weren't...finally people started to boo and i swear i was gonna get up and smack everyone of them!! How rude can some people be!! Those people there call themselves fans?! dont u know ur running on Backstreet Time!! If Nick is engrossed in his video game ya all gonna be waiting!!! Or maybe it is Kevin?!?...still lookin for his boot??? :D

They played a bunch of 80s music at my concert before they came on... I was lovin' it! :D My mom was like "Who the '''' is this?!" The only thing that was annoying is that they kept replaying the same songs over and over and over... :o
The little girl next to me thought Britney and O-Town were opening... her dad looked at me and the look on his face was like "What am I supposed to say?!" :D

They came out late on Feb 15th in Detroit too. We were all watching this clock in the Silverdome and everyone was freaking out every time the minute changed. It was 9:07 by the time they finally came out and the suspense was enough to make you explode.

Nick for sure. He's just too busy goofing around. Doesn't matter with who or when...he's just got to goof. It's in his blood.
Kevin never. I'll bet that by the time they take the stage, his blood is boiling sometimes!
Now that you mention it....I've never been to a concert where the show started ON TIME! Why is everyone late? I sometimes think they just sit around until it is the appropriate lateness and then take the stage.

My guess would absolutely be Nick. We listened to Billy yell at him (through his hotel room door!) several times to hurry up in February. Billy had called someone up to get Nick's luggage and Nick and "friend" didn't answer the door until Billy pounded on it and told him "Come on, Nick, we're gonna be in rush hour traffic as it is." Then a few minutes later, "Nick, come on, we're LATE!!!" (This was on the way to the venue before the concert!) When the door finally opened, we could see Nick racing back and forth like he was still trying to get all his stuff together. Considering how many bags we watched the bellboy load up from his room, it's not a wonder it takes so long to pack it all back up! Nick definitely does NOT travel light! (Strange considering he seems to wear the same couple pieces of clothing over and over again!!!!!)
Maybe they need to threaten to take away his video games or make him miss dinner or something. Always worked for me ...

I know for a fact, that they were on time at least once :) It was about 4 years ago... geez... memory is failing me today! Yeah it was on the Sherbrooke Show on Jan.1st 1997. They came on at 8h30 exactly, I remember cause I looked at my watch and set the alarm at the exact time the concert started. So for a couple of months after, everyday my watch would go off at the exact time my concert had started! (Crazy I know :D but in my defense, I was young back then :) )
I'm sure they've all been responsible for being late at one point or another. Nick and howie are probably the worse tho. Maybe Kev too, we know that when he's sleepin' it's hard to wake him up!

Bif, I was actually glad that the boys were late hitting the stage in Detroit. There was a major traffic jam and we didn't get to our seats until 8:45. When we first got out of the car, we heard music and we were pissed cause we thought we were missing the beginning of the show. THANK GOD Destiny's Child opened for them, cause we realized once we got in there that it was just them on stage. I sure hope they NEVER do another show at the Silverdome. That venue sucked in almost every way.

You people are way to funny. I never heard the story about the stripper. But, what a bunch of crap. I think that it is a combinaton of things. Or maybe, Nick blew out the power to the hotle again with his computers. :D:D:D Just kidding. That poor boy gets blamed for everything. or maybe they are being fashionable(sp) late. Keep the people waiting. But the time them hit the stage everyone will be in a feeding frenzy.

AHHHH! I hate the music they play in between the opening act and the boys. Everytime a song ends theres that second of anticipation that the boys will be coming on next. And when the next song comes on that excited feeling is gone :o

ummm....the original question is the time of the show, right?? lol
In Orlando and Tampa during this leg, they came on at 9:30 sharp!! No BSB time here!! lol
And before the Orlando show, Nick was playing Basketball..and I don't think he showered before going on stage either...ewww, smelly Nicky...lol

Ok, I don't know about all shows, but when I went to the meet and greet back in March we missed Krystal cus we were waiting for the BSB to come out. I'd been at the Staples Center since 3 that afternoon, so by the time the boys got to us (at like, 8:20 pm) my back and feet were killing me and I looked like total and complete crap(like I've said before, I don't think I'll ever meet them looking normal). So, I dunno who or what holds em up, but gees, they gotta get their butts in gear and start sooner. Backstreet Time is cute gimickry, but when it comes down to it, it gets old in a hurry. Too bad we couldn't do something like that to them...Ya know, a stadium full of people that arrives at 9 pm instead of on time. I don't think they'd be that amused....
