Psalms:37:6: And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Psalms:37:7: Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Psalms:37:8: Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
Psalms:37:9: For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
Psalms:37:10: For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

Psalms:37:12: The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
Psalms:37:13: The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
Psalms:37:14: The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
Psalms:37:15: Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Psalms:37:16: A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
Psalms:37:17: For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
Psalms:37:18: The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Psalms:37:19: They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Psalms:37:20: But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Faith in something bigger than yourself such as a higher power, a creator, certainly comes in handy when it seems the world is crashing down on you. If you are religious, that is not to say you only believe when its convenient for you, although I dont question whether there are people who are like that.
Which I have said in the past is how some view God, as a crutch. For some, that's all God seems to be good for.

I remember in one of my college courses that either the teacher or a author said, that if life is like surgery and religion is the anesthesia that helps you get through it.

There are alot of people in church who believe in God even when they don't have health and money and rainbows.

But then there are others who only come to church when they want something - usually money.

Though too much anesthesia may kill the patient.

There are also a lot of people that only go to church when they need that rainbow. I'd consider church a placebo: I don't think being in church makes God like or dislike a person any more or less, but it makes some people think God does.

I don't think church is why God likes people. But he uses the church globally and personally. The church is there for fellowship and teaching and worship for people. Though the worship part is pleasing to God.

I'm impartial to houses of worship (there are places other than churches). I don't believe in needing a specual place to worship, or that worship has to be done in a group setting, or with certain ceremonies.

Church is not a building. It is where people meet (its like family) to share with one another. Pastor gives a sermon which is always great. After service Pastor and all of us gather and chat with one another. We are a church family. Every week I look forward to listening to our Pastor and I love the people who surround me.

See, I don't get the whole worship thing. I honestly don't. What's the purpose of God anyway? Do people believe he just made all of this, the entire universe and then this one planet and two people so that one day there would be millions of them to... what? Worship him? Seriously, are we that egocentric to think God would create an entire universe just for us? And that in return, all he would want is for us to obey some rules and worship him? Oh, and then there would be some eternal reward just for us? When you think about it, in the vast scheme of things, it all seems, well, pretty absurd.
