Of course, the article isn't about the Associated Press at all. It's about two women whose plans for their personal lives have been destroyed by fear, bigotry, and discrimination.

Heaven forbid that the press should run a human-interest story.

I'm old and white and I think that's just disgusting. What two people do in the privacy of their own bedroom is NO BUSINESS of anyone else. Why does this even involve sex? It's about who they love. If two men love each other or two women love each other, who has any right at all to deny them the right to do what they wish?

The old white people of the right-wing religious fringe need to get over the 1950s and join the 21st century.

Sadly, @ this rate we will have to wait like 10 years for the public's opinion on the same-sex marriage issue to change enough to start winning when put up to a popular vote.

Which is why I hope Perry v. Schwarzenegger case will end up in the Supreme Court that hopefully will legalize same-sex marriage federaly much earlier.

I think that this was a turnout issue, and that like in Virginia, the younger voter just didn't turn out.

And while Nate Silver doesn't bake younger voter turnout in off-cycle election years into his assumptions here, I think he's largely on the right track in terms of when the trend will begin to turn in favor of same sex marriage.
