Did Brit find new guy Justin time?

Are Britney Spears and Jared Leto Hollywood's hottest new couple or is theirs a match made by the green-eyed monster?

Neither Spears nor Leto has been lucky in love after enduring very public splits. She's been single since calling it quits with Justin Timberlake last year, while Leto and former love Cameron Diaz went their separate ways earlier this year.

While these two have been nursing their broken hearts alone, Diaz has made no secret that she's lustin' for Justin as she accompanies him on his current tour.

But Spears and Leto found each other Saturday night in Los Angeles when the pop tart and the matinee idol eyed one another at Dolce, Ashton Kutcher's restaurant. "They'd never met before," says a source.

Leto came over to chat and learned he and Brit were both headed for Ben Affleck's birthday party, thrown by Jennifer Lopez and their agent, Patrick Whitesell. They decided to drive over together, and arrived arm-in-arm.

Another spywitness saw them leave early, ditching Molly Sims, David Spade, Shannen Doherty, Damon and Keenan Ivory Wayans and missing Affleck's duet of "Hump Bounce" with R. Kelly (whose current five-city tour was undertaken only through the permission of a judge - Kelly awaits trial on 21 charges of child pornography in Illinois).

Spears' spokeswoman downplayed the Leto linkup, telling us: "She was out for a girls' night out, and one of the friends knew Jared, who was there with friends, and both groups got together and had a good time."

Perhaps Spears and Leto will be inspired by the birthday boy, who turned 31, and his 34-year-old fiancée.

"She did say," the spokeswoman added, "that Ben and Jennifer looked madly in love."

Meanwhile, Madonna and Robert De Niro also celebrated birthdays over the weekend. De Niro turned 60 at Le Cirque 2000 Saturday night, while the Material Mom had a low-key barbecue Sunday with family and pals like Kutcher and Demi Moore on hand to help blow out the 45 candles. Spears and Lopez had been at Madonna's the day before for a "girls' lunch" that included Caresse Henry, Madge's manager.

Hollywood's getting a bit clique-y lately, no?

How wierd is that. It goes from Brit + Justin and Cameron + Jared to Brit + Jared and Cameron + Justin. And yeah, i didnt realize that any of them were that close with each other.
