avatars are just images
 ... they just have to be under certain size limits... like no bigger than 90x90 pixels and less than 10k in size  ...it's just like a .bmp or .jpg and stuff  unless you're talking animated avatars, then it's a .gif image, that has been "animated" (aka has many "frames" that run over a certain time)... |
