Mariah Carey is the number one selling female aristist in history right??

then why does the BRITNEYSPEARS OFFICAL SITE
DECLARE BRITNEY THE ONLY FEMALE ARTIST TO HAVE 4 # NUMBER ONE ALBUMS IN ROW

Mariah Carey had 9 number albums in a row
and how many # one singles from every album go to number one

and on the britney offical site they said that "according to soundscan britney is the only female artist to have had 4 number one albums in a row

Mariah Carey is the only number one selling female artist in history- beating our the Beatles and Elvis
Britney can never do that
only a talented real artist can do that

like I said Mariah has sold like more than 4 albums in a row that all went to number one

so that doesn't make britney the only artist who has done that

As of September 1999, Mariah Carey had sold more than 120 million albums and singles worldwide and earned an astounding 84 RIAA gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications for her singles, albums, and videos. As one of the most popular recording artists of the 1990s, Mariah has provided an ongoing soundtrack to the decade. With the arrival of Rainbow, she continues to give voice to the emotions of our age.

of course we all know she has 15 number one singles

I read somewhere that she had sold over 150 million records but I will find the proff soon

Best-selling Christmas album of all time (16 million)

Most singles to debut at #1 on Billboard Hot 100 (3)

Only artist to have at least one #1 single for every year of the 90's

Most weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (61)

World's best-selling artist of the 90's (185 million)

Most #1 albums of the 90's for a female artist (4) --(by the end of the 90's she has like 8 number one albums)

The longest-running #1 single in history (16 weeks)

can brit do that?? (NO!)

Most #1 singles by any currently active recording artist (15)

Only female artist to have 8 albums certified 3 x platinum or better

Brit may have number albums but that's all she can do

heres what i found:

Most Number 1s
This, possibly, the most important record, is held by Elvis Presley. He has had 18 chart-toppers. You can see how this record has 'changed hands' over the years here.

Madonna is the top woman with 10. Top female group is The Spice Girls with 9.

Only five acts in chart history have got into double figures with their tally of chart-toppers. They are: Elvis Presley (18), The Beatles (17), Cliff Richard (14 : six of them with The Shadows, one with The Drifters, one with The Young Ones), Westlife (12 : one of them with Mariah Carey) and Madonna (10).
Westlife hold the record for getting into double-figures in the shortest time (2 years and 10 months [ie. 149 weeks] - more than 3 months quicker than The Beatles (who took 165 weeks). Unlike Westlife, however, The Beatles tended to spend several weeks at the summit, slowing down their release rate.)

It is worth pointing out that Paul McCartney has featured on more Number 1s than any other artist. He loses out in this section due to his diverse range of credits. He has, in fact, appeared on 23 Number 1s; solo (1), with Wings (1), Stevie Wonder, The Christians et al (1), Ferry Aid (1), =Band Aid (1) and The Beatles (17). John Lennon has featured in 20 chart-toppers, three solo Number 1s adding to his tally of 17 with The Beatles. On this basis, George Harrison ties with Elvis, having had two solo Number 1s (if we count "My Sweet Lord"'s separate occupancies of the top slot as different records) as well as 16 with The Beatles (he didn't appear on "Ballad Of John And Yoko.")

Artist with Most Weeks at Number 1
It's Elvis Presley. He has topped the chart for a total of 77 weeks.
Top group is The Beatles (69 weeks). Top female performer is Madonna (21 weeks).
In his many different manifestations, however, Paul McCartney has spent 89 weeks at the top.

Most Consecutive Number 1s
7 - by The Beatles and Westlife.
The Beatles' stretch began with "A Hard Day's Night" in 1964 and lasted to "Yellow Submarine"/"Eleanor Rigby" in 1966. The run was broken when "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" merely made the number 2 position the following year!
Westlife's stint began with their debut, "Swear it Again" in 1999 and ran through to "My Love" in November 2000 (though one hit was a 'duet' with Mariah Carey). It was broken by "What Makes A Man" which peaked at number 2 the following month.

Beatles fans are, however, quick to point out that "Ain't She Sweet" (which made number 29 in 1964) was recorded in 1961, well before their EMI contract. It was issued by Polydor to 'cash in' on the success of the fab four. Fans argue that this was not an "official" Beatles release. If this logic is accepted (though the track did make the charts), The Beatles run of successive number ones begins with "From Me To You" in April 1963 - making a total of 11.

Top female group is The Spice Girls (6 in a row from "Wannabe" through to "Too Much").

found this interesting:
Most Successful Acts Not To Have A Number 1 Single
Depeche Mode have had most Top 40 hits without making No. 1 (36 of them!). In fact, they've never risen above No. 4.
Billy Fury has spent 231 weeks on the Top 40. No other artist has spent longer on the chart without making No. 1. His best chart placing was Number 2 for "Jealousy" in 1961.
Special mention must also go to Sash! who has made Number 2 on five occasions. No other artist has been 'runner up' with so many singles without ever making it to Number 1.
(Jon) Bon Jovi has featured on eighteen Top 10 singles but never made the number 1 position. One hit behind, Janet Jackson has appeared on seventeen Top 10 singles without reaching the top spot.

K you guys don't read. Britney is the only artist that I know of to have EVERY SINGLE ALBUM DEBUT at #1.

I dont give a rat's ass how many artists have had #1 albums, I'm talking about DEBUTING at #1. Meaning, FIRST WEEK @ #1. FIRST WEEK.

That's amazing to me because Britney's FIRST 4 albums have ALL DEBUTED at #1.

Word of the day? DEBUT....ugh I swear
