Hi Keith,

Can you tell me how many copies Mariah Carey's "Charmbracelet" has sold as of December 2003 in the U.S.? And has the album been certified double-platinum yet?

Hi Sergio,

Mariah Carey's "Charmbracelet" has sold 1.1 million units in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, since it was released in December 2002. The MonarC/Island/IDJMG set peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200.

The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in January 2003 for U.S. shipments of 1 million copies. For more on the RIAA's certification process, visit the organization's Web site.

Most recently, Carey released "The Remixes," a two-CD set of dance and hip-hop reworkings of previously released hit singles. The Columbia set has sold 136,000 copies.

^ok....but that is just saying she sold 1.1 million in the U.S. They aren't talking about worldwide sales.

Worldwide she sold about 4.5 million (including US)... (And that's official too)

But that's an album of remixes. Those albums don't sell as strong as a studio album. But that's quite good that some people were interested--there is a cult following for Mariah's remixes too. I think she was one of the few to sing on her remixes rather than give her record out to someone to remix and put all those echoes and sound effects on it.
