(OT)I find this very ridiculous!!
CHRISTINA AGUILERA IS NOT SO ORIGINAL
Christina Aguilera For all the slack Britney Spears gets for supposedly copying Christina Aguilera, I'd just like to say your goddess of originality is probably the worst of them all. Let's take the biggest culprit of evidence. "Stripped" was a good album and fun to listen to but almost every song is like a rip off of another one. "Fighter" is like "Survivor" from Destiny's Child or "Black cat" from Janet Jackson. "Infatuation" is the tired and inevitable Latin lover song that everyone has overdone. "Loving me for me" sounds like Mariah Carey's "Underneath the stars" and Jill Scott "He loves me". "Impossible" sounds like Aretha Franklin. "Beautiful" is Elton John or TLC's "Unpretty". "Make Over", uh Sugababes. "Dirrty" is Redman's song "Lets get dirty". "A voice within", Jesus another take off of Mariah Carey, anyone remember "Hero"? And throughout the whole CD, all I heard was Mariah Mariah Mariah. I still like "Stripped" but next time you want to make a comment on how everyone copies Christina, just remember she's not the most original girl in it. Her whole new sound is just combining what"s already out there or been done already. I think her next album should be better. (Popdirt) Last edited by tinaluvsmc; Jan 29th, 2004 at 10:54 PM. |

I was so mad when I read this article
christina is freakin original!!! she wrote these songs and they hold very personal to her and she co-produced some of these tracks and they are comparing her to other songs and say she is copying other people they are way out of the line-- I don't see any comparsions to what they are talking about man, I hate pop dirt!! they are always bashing someone with no good reasons!! christina is singing what she is comfortble with she is a soulful artist!! are they just surprised that there is someone out there who can sing as good as mariah? |

that's exactly what i said when i first heard stripped i was dissapointed.. i thought that i was the only one who thought that the songs in there sounded familiar..
i knew for sure that make over was a rip off sugababes' song and one of the songs was a rip off mariah's interlude from rainbow album but i wasn't sure abot the others ![]() i'll have to agree with the article

that's just sad..
half of those songs are personal to christina AND SHE WROTE THEM and just because she can sing as good as mariah she is copying her?? christina's songs may remind you of mariah but IT'S NOT!! a rip off from some of mariah's songs?? is mariah the only one that can write good songs?!! besides christina is more into blues and her next album will be a lot blues!!! because christina sings what she feels comfortable and she grew up listening to blues!!!! |

it's about the sound, the melody that is rip off.. listen to sugababes song that has the exact same beat as make over.. christina had this sound of thunder and rain in one song and a soft melody and that souunded exactly like one of the songs in mariah's rainbow album.. stripped songs have very similar melodies to other songs, that's what the article's saying.. ps. no need to get mad over an article

What "article is this from"? This seems like someone copied a poster's comments from "PopDirt" and slapped it on "LiveDaily".

I agree, Stripped is not very original, but WHAT REALLY IS THESE DAYS ANYWAY?! All pop music these days sounds like something else. It really does. Beats are recycled, samples are used like no tomorrow, and lyrically, nothing stands out. Mariah is one of Christina's idols, so yes, I would expect to hear some of her influence in her music. Nothing wrong with that. I did however, have the weirdest sense of dejavu when I heard "The Voice Within" for the first time. It sounds so much like a Mariah tune

well.....Loving Me 4 Me and the interlude before it sound like Mariah's Bliss
The Voice Within is like Hero...even some of the same lyrics Impossible (and this is Alicia's fault) sounds exactly like Aretha's Ain't No Way and Natural Woman...like lawsuit close.... And apparently Make Over sounds like some other song. I never heard it but alot of reviews and other people said it does but the rest of the album is good...including those except I don't like TVW and Make Over for other reasons.... |

"Keep on Singin my Song" is similar to "Can't Take that Away" lyrically speaking too.
