Getting down to brass tacks

When Backstreet first hit me, I was just knocked for a loop. I didn't know whether to.........first, well you know, just fill in the dots. I hadn't liked pop music, I pretty much wasn't involved in any kind of contemporary music except gospel and yada yada yada. They, their music and them reached down inside of me and changed me in some profound and permanent way and while I'm not exactly eternally grateful since I didn't want to be fixed or changed, they did and that's that. Now, what can I do for people who have altered my life like that? I can buy their music, go to their concerts and follow their careers and just love them and what they mean to me. I was in darkness and pain and they gave me light and color and laughter. So I don't care if they never sell another record, I don't care if they're popular or not, I don't care what critics, the press, dics jockeys or encyclopedia salesmen wearing footie pajamas have to say about them, I don't care if they can't outsell The Lightnin' Bug Song, I don't care if the board blows up in a massive verbal war, I don't care if they all marry gerbils or if they all marry each other, I don't care if they all gain 100 pounds and let their hygeine go, I don't care if I ever get to go to another concert, I don't care if any and everybody on this board calls me a ring-tailed baboon, cusses me and talks about my mama, I don't care what they look like, what you call them, how you feel about them, or whether you want to run over them with your car, I don't even care how I feel. WhatEVER happens, they'll ALL have at least one fan: me.

I'm just sayin'.

Geeze, you hit the nail on the head with what you said. All I wanna do is enjoy the music - the rest is just icing on the cake! What is it about them that does that to a person??! Thanks for putting into words what I feel, but can't express as well as you do. And I, too, will always be a fan!

um, yeah what Geeze said with uh maybe an exception to the uh *whew phew* hygeine thing.... oh yeah and the uh "loud and proud" thing Howie was talking about in the RS article eww, men can be so gross sometimes!

I could have written that, Geeze. I got hit hard by the whole Backstreet thing not too long ago. I don't know how it happened, but now I'm hooked and yes, my life has changed too. I will ALWAYS be a fan, and I'm so glad I opened my eyes to them.

I know exactly what you mean Geeze. I wouldn't care if I was the last fan of there's on Earth.. I would still be their biggest fan. I love their music so much. You could probably say it changed my life.
It's like when you turn on their music, all your troubles just go away for a little while.. nothing matters when you listen to their music. do any of you know what i mean?

This post came along at exactly the right time. We're all with you Geeze. I'm not very eloquent, so it's impossible to put exactly what they mean to me into words. All I know is that the feeling of Backstreet Love is the most powerful, overwhelming force on the planet. It makes me want to laugh, cry, dance, and be still all at the same time. I'm not even going to try to unravel the mystery. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Kevin, Brian, AJ, Howie, and Nick: I am here for you. Always.

Geeze you never cease to amaze me with your insight. Well said. I have tried to explain my love for them to non-fans, but I just can't find the words to make them understand it. I will try to explain it you all, since you know where I am coming from. My life was dark and unhappy until I heard "As long as you love me" on my local radio station. I danced like I hadn't danced in years. They make me smile, laugh, dance, cry and behave like a teenager (HALLELUJAH! I MAY BE 33,BUT IM STILL YOUNG!!)everytime I hear their music. I dont care if I embarass myself, my BSB love shines through. So if you see a crazy lady dancing in the aisle of the grocery store while the BSB song plays on the muzak, or sobbing uncontrollably at one of their concerts, just dance and cry with me......share the bsb love!! I love the five of them, and will forever be grateful for the joy they have brought to my soul!! So even if they quit tomorrow, I will be a fan for always.
